please and joe has the best resume in the sport. please. hes already talkin about retireing and ending it with a washed up roy jones. pavlik is only 25 and is already middleweight champ and one of the p4p best fighters in the world. just face joe has no legacy he fought a 43yr old bhop, fought in a weak division his whole career and is fighting a guy who he himself called past his prime and said he would never fight. hes as fraud as they come.

Did you read the latest Ring Magazine's article on the fight? It is fair to say that it implied Hopkins may beat Pavlik. The age old adage rings true: styles make fights. Hopkins has a difficult style for Pavlik. Pavlik may bombard Hopkins with jabs and rights for about 5 rounds with Hopkins stealing a round or two, but what happens when Pavlik drops his guard a little bit and Hopkins counters with a hook? I am anxiously awaiting this fight. I really think it could go either way. If Pavlik drops or dominates Hopkins, he deserves the hype. If he loses, I don't think his stock goes down much. Remember Calzaghe beat Hopkins by split decision and Calzaghe is highly favored over Pavlik and already a sure-bet first ballot hall-of-famer (Hopkins is too).
Calzagnuts aint favored over no Pavlik ive seen on yahoo and atleast 2 other boxing websites put polls on who would win and all choose the GHOST. or maybe your just a Calzaghe fan
Actually, I am a fan of both. Pavlik is great for American boxing and I hope he beats Hopkins because he has the potential to bring fans to the sport. Calzaghe is a great boxer. He was probably the best super middleweight of all-time. He has never lost in 45 fights! That is an accomplishment no matter how you play it.

The truth of the matter is that Pavlik is 26 years old. Calzaghe is 36 years old. Pavlik has many years to establish himself as a great middleweight. Pavlik has the potential to have a greater career than Calzaghe simply because he has more time. If Pavlik beats Hopkins, at the age of 26, his biggest wins will already rival Calzaghe's. He will have victories over Edison Miranda, Jermain Taylor, and Bernard Hopkins. No one will dispute his status among great middleweights. Beating Hopkins won't be easy. Like I said earlier, Calzaghe is an established professional, an all-time great, and he barely succeeded at the task. Can Pavlik do it at age 26? If he does, it will be quite an accomplishment. Pavlik doubters must acknowledge his abilities at that point. Then again, if he loses, is is that detrimental to his reputation? I don't think so. Hopkins is a first ballot hall-of-famer. Pavlik is 26. He has at least another ten years to develop a hall-of-fame career.

I think it's funny how this board needs so many Pavlik/Hopkins threads; it's ridiculous watching the same people argue the same things over and over and none of it will change anything on fight night, lol.

Pavlik is going to have problems with Hopkins. Pavlik is my fave current fighter, and is one of my all time fave fighters as I just like his attitude and "I'm coming to beat your ass" mentality, but more highly skilled fighters than Pavlik have looked stupid trying to fight that old man. And something no one has done yet; and which I think will make this fight very close indeed, is go to Pavlik's body. Hopkins is going to crouch on those ropes and hold whenever possible but I'd be willing to bet they are going to target that long, thin core of Pavliks and if he goes down{which I think will happen as I've said a gazillion times in a gazillion other threads} it will be due to getting touched to that body. Pavlik is going to be standing right in front of this guy and I think Pavlik and his camp will have worked on avoiding that right hand upstairs in training camp; but I'm betting they aren't expecting Hopkins to work that body. At the least it will slow Pavlik down and give Hopkins more time to hug/hold/bore/get off the occasional shot, which is what he's good at. Hopkins will not in any way get into a movement game as eventually he'll get run down as we all know, so as usual he'll make it ugly but watch him target that body of Kelly's as he is weak there. Maybe I'm wrong; who cares, tell me I'm an idiot and I won't even care. Just another opinion

And even if Pavlik should ko Hopkins don't look for him to get any credit from it; people will just say that proves Hopkins is old and finished; which he may be, as 5 years ago I'd have definitively given this fight to Hopkins. Only thing it will show is that Joe couldn't do it and that's just because that old adage styles make fights. Joe will at the very least give Kelly fits, and probably beat him in a style possibly reminiscient of the beating Lacy took; though not to that degree.

I think Kelly will win but barely; same as everyone else, though it wouldn't shock me to see him lose. Yeah I'll cry like a baby if he does but that's life and Kelly will learn more from Hopkins than Hop will ever learn from him in this fight; take that to the bank. Why don't you guys stfu already We should just be happy we are having another great year of fights. The Calzaghe fans are as bad as Kelly's. Where are the Hopkins fans

Recalling my Pavlik Decision vote. As the fight gets closer I see Hopkins winning, mainly because Pavlik says he is going to try to knock him out.

    Bad Bad Strategy! LOL

Hopkins wins via Majority Decision or via Cut Stoppage!!

What's with all the Pavlik via KO predictions? LOL!

Hopkins? Kayod? By Pavlik? At 170?

The same Pavlik who hit JT in the second fight with the same punches and then some that he did in the first fight and couldn't put him away? It was pretty obvious in Pav/Jt 2 at 166 that the catch weight had an impact on Pavliks performance.

He stopped doubling his jab, started to breathe out of his mouth, panted in his corner a few times, after the 6th he opted to take breaks instead of continuing his pressure, in short; he just wasn't the same fighter 6lbs north.

The catchweight IS a factor here guys! Don't expect pavlik to fight the same fight he'd fight at 160, at 170. Pavlik by UD or SD.. No way he knocks Bernard out and no way Nard can win a decision here. All gifts go to the younger rising star, we know this.

Pavlik's a great 1-2 puncher. When he goes around (seldom) it looks good, but he always looks to punch straight through. Straights, uppers - he does his very best work when his opponent is in the corner, against the ropes, or standing directly in front of him for long periods. I've always thought the moment Pavlik fought someone with great movement he'd look silly since he doesn't throw punches at enough angles. I think Bhop has that footwork. He'll never stand in front of Pavlik long enough to allow him to do his best work, but he won't work enough during the rounds to outpoint him either. I think Bhop will expose some of the flaws in Pavliks game, nothing more.

    Pavlik via Decision.

pavlik knocking out bhop is more understandable than the 3 that voted for bhop to ko kelly. MORONS

Good post. Of course, there are possibly other reasons that Pavlik couldn't knock out JT the second time around. JT was better prepared going into the second fight etc. Pavlik also had to fight 12 rounds. The first time it only went into the 6th - could account for his fatigue.

i'm a big hopkins fan and have 40+ of his fights, ones even from his early pro days and having been watching them i can say thst while hes great for a 43 year old he's a mere shadow of his prime days, for those who have only been watching him for 6, 7 years wont know that he once was busy, had a decent punch and could take fighters into deep shark filled water and and bring back only there gloves as mementos................... i can't understand why he's risking his health, his reputation as a the only 40 something still fighting main events without getting ko'd and his legacy since he has lost 3 of his last 5 fights, sure moneys important to him but he's got plenty............. fighting a 26 year old prime pavlik is a wrong move and i hope he doesnt get ko'd
