I was a big fan of MMA and started watching boxing to learn about handskill, because in MMA you will see high kick KOs, knee KOs, but the LARGE majority of KOs happen with fists because its the most practical weapon on the human body.

Personally I just grew fond of the sport, and I loved the science. I stopped watching it for the action and started becoming entralled with the art and the defense. I believe the art of boxing is to hit and not get hit, so when I saw guys like Ali, Pernell, Roy Jones, FLoyd Mayweather, and later on guys like Niccolino Locche, Willie Pep, ect, I just fell in love with that kind of style because IMO thats what boxing is all about.

I love the characters of boxing too, past and present. I really enjoyed (and still do) reading up on the characters of boxing past.

....there are so many reasons, but most of all "because in boxing you just never, ever know what the outcome will be. No matter how evenly or unevenly matched, anything can always happen.

That’s a good question, and I would answer it this way:

    1. Drama – I love the electric atmosphere of a championship fight. From the fighter entrances into the ring, to the people going nuts in the stands, to the “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble”, and finally the fight itself, with all the ebb and flow and changes in momentum and all that. And finally, the long-awaited decision (if it gets to that).
    2. Man Against Man – There’s no teammates (well… there’s cornermen, but they don’t go in there to fight for you). There’s no one to blame that they dropped the ball or something like that. It’s just you and the other guy. No clubs, no sticks, no weapons… just your gloved fists.
    3. National Pride – Face it… few other sports generate as much national pride as boxing. Maybe soccer. But championship boxing, especially between rival countries, is unequaled for excitement among sports.
    4. Anything’s Possible – Other sport events turn into routs and are over long before the final bell, whistle, buzzer, etc. In boxing, the end can come at any time, and from any opponent. Weaver-Tate was a great example. Big John Tate had dominated the entire fight, before Mike Weaver KO’ed him with a single right hand in the last round.
    5. Changes in Momentum – I love this aspect of boxing. Some of the classics: Leonard-Hearns I, Ali-Frazier III, Corrales-Castillo, among others.

I could go on and on. But I love boxing basically because it’s among the purest of sports. And it has survived the test of time over many, many years. Here’s hoping boxing will be around forever.

I hated fighting in real life but i always loved boxing. It's a contradiction that i can't explain. I've always been a peacemaker and hated fighting, but if i was getting paid for it like a professional fighter i'd love fighting. Doesn't make sense but if i were to get paid good money for fighting, i'd love fighting. I also have a tremendous killer instinct like a young mike tyson.

The underdog ,I secretly want them to win even if one is fighting against my own countrymen.

I love to watch for what naturally occurs when someone is right in the zone but is doing it hard and is put right on the spot ,the corner is yelling but they can never hear a thing and have to go it alone with soul reaction; You get to see what isn't taught by anyone then. Nose to nose forces us to be faster not in thinking or known combos but in reaction and body placement as more subtle slight things start work if you have the will to stay in the range and find the spaces. Even a turn of a heel around the ball of your foot or a shoulder raised and an elbow stuck out can work magic when its real tight and you need to change the tide around to your favor.

Aha yes, good point Andre. How can I over look The undedogs ( odd question really ) and upsets. There is NOTHING like a last minute sub or a 'Resume Padder' brought in and pulling off the "WTF moment" of the night.Upsets keep the sport vivrant and exciting and when A guy is fighting to pay that months rent, light bill, etc.and pulls off what very few gave him/her a shot a doing over a big contract tied & groomed favorite or a lauded over poster boy star with phat pockets....

Manfredo-Some other B fighter (kidding POB)

    Margarito-Williams Team.

    PacMan-Marquez Team.

    Mismatches would ensue.

In fact, Amir Kahn might even win a belt if he could get a good teammate while he gained his consciousness.

I enjoy it, because it is the ultimate platform for somebody to impose they superiority of either will, physicality or technique upon somebody else. once they are in the ring there is no substitute, there are no time outs, its up to them to shine.

I think what I love most is the artistry that some fighters produce, I mean some guys can seem unhittable in a 20 by 20 foot ring, some guys can walk through 200 punches that would knock any normal person out cold. The focus, but Roy Jones Jr really made me love the sport with how easy he made such a difficult sport look. I was good at every sport I played, but boxing was technically a lot more challenging for me, and it is the hardest sport to emulate what the fighters do on tv because it goes against everything your body is telling you to do, but then one day you do everything without even conciously thinking about it, and thats a special feeling, when the sport becomes fun... then somebody gives you a run for your money, and its back to square one again.

I mean what else about it? everyone likes it for different reasons...Some are casual fans and some of us practically live it as a past time....

Me personally I became involed as a fan when I was about 5 or so because my Dad was such a huge fan....Then I just kept on with it...Just like some do in football, baseball etc....

As I got older I became friends with fighters Floyd Patterson was my first regular boxing pal he lived not too far from my Uncle and I ran into him often as a kid and he would talk to me sometimes for an hour or two until we became on a first name basis...Then I wanted to know everything about him and would read books etc....

Eventually I learned what it was like for these guys and the backgrounds of many of these guys coming up and why they became fighters...Most as a means to an end....

Today I undertsand what it is like for these guys to have a dream of glory, how hard they train, how many don't like to fight but know it is their best chance to make a life for their families...How most are not even violent people, what they sacrafice...It makes you understand why a loss is so hard...

Boxing is the ugliest thing to ever be involved in because the risk for most is not worth the reward, You learn how lonely it is for these guys when the spotlight fades, how they are taken advantage of by promoters...

It is the most interesting sport in the world because it shows exactly how much a person is willing to sacrafice, you get to see these guys reap the rewards from their hard work....You want to see these guys do well knowing what they go through..

It is almost like watching a never ending movie...

So I am just curious on what it is about the sport that keeps you coming back for more...Be it just the violence or be it you are just a fanatic
now who is stupid? if you're a fan, boxing analyst, a boxing freak, or a guy who has a fighther friend that thinks he already knew boxing or whatever you wanna call yourself then shame on you.if you really knew and understand the sport and business of boxing these thread wont pop up into your mind. you wanna know what i think about you? you just wanna be there, when you don't belong. "VIOLENCE, FANATIC" hahahaha
Is this guy serious? Oh great! A filipino flag?! WOW! Thanks for making me look bad...Douche!
