    Default Dear Hopkins

WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!

Seriously, I picked Bhop, but I can't believe what I just saw. Not only did he win a landslide victory, he did it clean and in exciting fashion.

I also saw Pavlik walk around the ring without even using his jab and his right hand. What the fuck was the matter with him?

I missed the stream. My only guess is that Hopkins saw Pavlik just as a come forward type fighter and killed him with side-to-side movement. Pavlik better get back to the drawing board quick.

Even calzaghe had problems at times with hopkins speed and mobility. If hopkins can make calzaghes output go down he can make a lot of fighters output go down. What gets me is how did jermaine taylor make it look so easy to beat hopkins?

Pav should have brought an apple for Hopkins....he was schooled in all honesty.Countered at nearly every move.

The lateral movement and handspeed did it all.

I don't think anyone would argue that Calzaghe's (disputed by some) win over B-Hop was not impressive.

Hopkins fought an exceptional fight. He made Pavlik look like an amateur in there. But lets not forget a few things about Hopkins recent performances.

Since his move up to light heavyweight he has had 4 fights. For me the Tarver fight is his only significant win at the weight. Tarver was a genuine LHW and Hopkins breezed past him. Great win. Calzaghe actually beat Hopkins quite clearly. Winky was way out of his weight class though. And here we have Pavlik, though a big guy, he really is just a middleweight at this point.

Hopkins schooled Pavlik, and it was a great performance, but there is so much calculation in how Hopkins goes about matchmaking. I really dont think he really expected Calzaghe could be so good, and Im sure he's still in denial about it today. It was a good win, but lets not forget the realities of the situation.

Hopkins is creating the illusion of making "great" wins by asking fighters to step almost 2 weight classes outside what they normally fight at. It seems to be a Golden Boy art these days with Oscar leading the way. I know that sounds cynical but its the way it is.

I think so, had it not been for that awful start it would have been a VERY decisive Calzaghe win over BHop. As it was it was just a clear win.
