Believe me I don't take this place seriously.

I just find it annoying that every time a fighter wins or loses you'll get a bunch of people telling us why the win didn't mean anything, why the guy who lost was clearly overatted, and why one fighter is great whilst another sucks.

It's gay fanboy shit, and if it's ok to be a fanboy on this site and be anti one fighter whilst sucking the cum out of another fighters japs eye then its ok for me to be an anti fanboy.

As for the Baggins clan recruiting Pacman nuthuggers this is no longer the case.

The Baggins clan recruits the forums best 'character's' i.e plopeater eats his own shit so he's in, Clubber kills frogs, punches walls and has never spoken to a girl before, he's in, Kid Thunder is possibly the worst boxer of all time and a youtube star, obviously he's in.

We are an assortment of unlikely hero's but hero's nonetheless

Guess it just doesn't seem like anything new to me? There's always been some morons on this board, and generally the fanboys are going to fall under that category. Don't know why I'm arguing the point though, I really don't contribute anything myself and don't go on the other boards as they aren't really to do with boxing. I've always just skimmed around this forum to get a bit of perspective on the sport because it's the best venue I've found to keep up to date on it. Of course only the odd post is actually of any interest but so what? There's no reason to respond to every little flame war some goof tries to start, much less start one of your own as if you have some sort of cross to bear.

It's not so much fanboyism, it's the England/Europe/US thing, and the other various national battles, Pacman etc. It would be great if people could view the fighters not through a nationalistic prism. The fanboy stuff I can handle.

Actually most of the outspoken Calzaghe haters, TysonBruno, Dark Lord Al, ICB and LeftyLee are all British.

It's funny because a lot of people who are countrymen of Calzaghe say "You Americans can't give our fighters any credit" when a bunch of the worst Joe haters are from the same place.

That just shows you that even people frm the same country dont like Calzaghe. Now wat does that say?

I don't mind that either, at least you know it's honest and not something else. I think it's just unfortunate for them -- probably the best british fighter they'll ever see and they don't like him.

Even though I didn't like him during his reign, I think Lennox Lewis is the best British fighter...

I ain't no Joe Calzaghe hater i just question his record when the topic is brought up, but i have gave him credit many times. Secondly whether a fighter is from the UK or isn't doesn't really matter to me, i either like a fighter or i don't and i don't care where a fighter comes from.

For example i wanted Floyd Mayweather Jr to thrash Ricky Hatton, because i prefer Floyd Mayweather's slick style more than Ricky Hatton's messy hugging brawling style. And i wanted Evander Holyfield to beat Lennox Lewis, because Evander Holyfield got me into boxing, and i liked his exciting style much more Lennox Lewis's jab-fest safety first boring style.

Same thing here really. I like a fighter, and thats it. I couldnt care less where they are from. If there is something about their style or even character that I find interesting then that is what gets me into a fighter. Calzaghe is one of my fighters, but James Toney is the other fighter I follow most avidly. Haye is British but I cannot stand the guy.

I have to say that I think pretty much everyone on here will probably have a favourite fighter and they will fight their corner all day long. Mine is Roy Jones. I read every single article in newspapers and Boxing mags and so on and I probably know more about his career than any other boxer.

But at the same time I like to think I'm fair about what I am saying. Just the other week someone posted a thread about who would have won between Roy and Tyson and I quite simply answered honestly that I thought Tyson would be far too much with his superior size and to be honest I can't stand Tyson, though I do respect he had one of the greatest punches in the history of the heavyweight division.

I have no problem with this so called "fanboyism" in fact I like to see people standing their mans corner whether I agree with what they are saying or not. For example I know Lyle is a huge fan of Wlad Klitschko and sometimes I feel as though he overrates him but whenever I or anybody else comes up with an argument against what he is saying he always comes back with his theories behind what he is thinking, that creates good topics and is what makes these threads on here entertaining for me.

I honestly think you are being a bit harsh towards people who want to see their man do well.

Well I quess I am the exception to your post. I have no favorite boxer. I am a Fan of the sport of boxing. I will watch the great fights and the shitty fights.

Boxers come and go. The sport stays.

I don't play the what if, could of been, if this happened games that are played on the main board.

To me, it is all about the fight on the night. Did the fighter I thought would win, win or lose. If I can watch the fight and see the outcome, I know the "Why" of it. Do not have this burning desire to revisit it a thousand times over and over with ,What if's.

    Ghost,

Although I sincerely agree that that'd be a great way to see the sport.... I'll never see it that way nor do I see how a human can(though you're not you're dead)...

I just don't see how you can't have a favorite in a fight or be slightly bias to another fighter due to whatever attributes...

Like... You never idolized a boxer?

You can not possibly look at each fight as it's own with no bias cuz to do such is impossible...

Ghost, you know I respect you but what you say is simply impossible...

I'm not challenging you it's just simply the truth...

You have or never had "A" favorite boxer?...

    Surely you jest, sir

Yes i think the guy who calls himself Bilbo , a poor excuse for a grown man , makes some valid points and perhaps the rest of us should all take a leaf from his book, and maybe , just maybe we could all be better posters , producing better threads , but most importantly of all , better people. Dare i say better like Bilbo Baggins and use big words like "fanboyism".
I for one could only hope one day i can better myself and reach those dizzy hights. But i guess the rest of us can dream .
