The possibility exists that when Calzaghe beats Jones we'll get a break from tysonbruno for a while.

There won't be much crying. Calzaghe is the clear underdog in my book. He is expected to lose.

I cant imagine many folks aligning themselves with the notion that "Calzaghe is expected to lose."

If anything, I imagine most are leaning towards Joe, not only on account of his unbeaten streak and capacity for suprise, but also because many will think of Roy vs Johnson and Tarver.

There IS a chance, and maybe a decent one, that Roy pulls this off (Im picking him SD) but it relies almost entirely on which version of Roy shows up. The Jones that fought Ruiz, and the Jones that fought Trinidad have a very good shot at this.

We know which version of Joe is showing up , and he's showing up to win, as usual. I dont think anyone is 'expecting' Joe to lose.

Can someone please tell me what the hell Roy Jones Junior has done in his last 6 fights that give people the impression he can beat Calzaghe ??

He may be the underdog to you, but not according to the bookies.

    Calzaghe is around 1/3
and Jones Jr. is around 5/2

not a huge difference, but Calzaghe is the clear favorite.

It will be a good fight, I can't see jones holding back much tbh. his strategy will be to try and make calzaghe go on the back foot and counterpunch. I think Jones is still a bit too fast for Calzaghe to be successful if he does this.

We all know he should have fought Pavlik though. He could have had that fight now and fought Jones in the spring for a last big payday, which to me made the most sense.

I would love to see a spark of Jones of old turn up. Prime for prime I think it was close between these two, but that doesn't define greatness. Greatness is about stepping outside of your comfort zone and defying all odds, imo Calzaghe has not done this, regardless of how good he is.

    Off topic but....

As I read the title of this thread this verse popped into my mind for some reason.

Rot has a very good chance. Joe doesn't have the ROY kryptonite of power to take him out with one shot.

When he does win I'm sure you'll tell us it was only because Roy was so old, if they'd fought ten years ago etc. etc. I can hardly wait.
