It's crazy, but I understand. She destroyed property and hacked into his personal things. It might not be to the same level, but you'd hope the person who hacked into your back account would go to jail. The difference between the two is one access money and the other doesn't but they both house things of value. The law is going to have to do some serious catching up as we are only going to see more of these crimes, not less. Was it last year or the year before when they guy was murdered for stealing and selling a virtual sword.

I think it's the fact that she hacked into someone else's computer that got her jailed.

But jeez! I can feel good knowing that there are people out there who are much more sadistic and pathetic than me.

Yeah, it is. But the issue of non-physical property rights is going to have to be addressed. Not necessarily in a game like this as I'm sure death is a possibility within the confines of this game, but say someone had some code they created and was able to kill off a character or in the other case I mentioned where the guy stole an item from a friend and sold it. The person it belonged to had put a lot of time and effort into building the sword into what it became only to have it taken from him. With the ever-increasing popularity of these games this is going to happen more and more.

That being said, it is funny how pathetic this is.

But does this mean that if someone cruelly took my rep points away I'd have the legal grounds to file a lawsuit against them?

How great would it be for Amat to get a court summon's because he neg repped me when I was hungover and made me feel sick.

He should go to prison for that imo, cruel and abusive behaviour, maybe serve a week inside and get some community service.

If only we were both Japanese, he'd feel the full effects of nonsense law coming down on his ass.

    1. "Her" online husbane was a co-worker in her office.

    2. He gave her the password to his account. (She didn't hack it)

    3. And more than likely, he reported the the "Death" after she said "No"

I get you're being facetious, but I'm not necessarily talking about in this case. I think there should be a means of determining real damages that have an impact on your physical self as opposed to just being on-line. You hack into my account and make crazy statements is one thing. You hack into my account and make defamatory statements against someone and I get sued is another.

Well someone hacked into my account on here a couple months ago and changed one of my posts to say I fucked my drunk brother whilst he was passed out on my bathroom toilet, a charge I deny.

You think that's a criminal offence? I mean they hacked into my personal things AND made an illegal, incestous allegation about me.

You who did that (must have been a mod) reveal yourself now and I'll prosecute you to the fullest extents of cyber law

Who will be laughing then huh?
