Id say Margarito, he TKOed a real p4p fighter in what I think was the most exciting fighter of the year, and also a good contender (Cintron) ,

The rest of the boxers mentioned all have some "holes" this year, which could count them out, though I am very close to saying B hop over Margarito,

    anyway, these are the 'holes'

Bernard Hopkins - lost to calzaghe

Chad Dawson - Imo lost to Johnson or at best looked very bad vs Johnson

Timothy Bradley - awesome year but not fighting p4pounders like the rest on this list

Manny Pacquiao - questionable performance vs Marquez you could say. But his biggest test is coming up soon which would by far make him fighter of the year.

I'l go with Margarito, he won the most significant fight of the year and without controversy.

I'm still baffled at how people can think Hopkins is more deserving of fighter of the year than Calzaghe.

Calzaghe's win is taken as a moral defeat it seems in the eyes of many whilst Hopkins actually gets credit for keeping it close.

Calzahge beat Hopkins so how can Hopkins be ahead of him in the fighter of the year stakes

Chad has had a good year but he still isn't a mainstream name which is why I think he won't get the nod for Fighter of the Year.

Marquez, diaz, de-la hoya in 12months would exceed anything anyone else has done this year.

I have my doubts though. ODLH should be too big for him SURELY

I voted for Margarito on the basis of the performance of the year and the fact he beat THE man at his own game and had to walk through hell to do so.

I think it's between Calzaghe, Pacquiao, and Margarito. Hopkins has a loss on his record this year (even though it's controversial, a loss is a loss).

Calzaghe needs to beat Jones and then he would be a good candidate to win it. Even though Jones and Hopkins are past it, on paper it looks pretty sweet.

Pacquiao won the Ring Magazine title from Marquez at 130 then took a title from Diaz at 135. If he wins against De La Hoya, then he's a no brainer for fighter of the year.

But, unless Calzaghe beats Jones and Manny beats Oscar, Margarito is ahead in the fighter of the year race.
