Well if you are going to counter Vic, do it from the outside especially if he isn't squared up and is actually working behind a jab. Look at the KO Nonito was already on the way out when Vic was put down. Look at the distance between the two and how Nonito used the distance to his advantage. When Mijares was put in that situation he was moving the wrong way, he was shortening the gap by getting flatfooted or leaning in and he never corrected his mistakes. Mijares has the talent to beat Vic with some to spare but he you can't not have a backup plan or a second way to avoid punches when the first isn't working.

I don't even think it was so much of an issue with the jab, I mean certainly Vic isn't a threat to play counterpuncher so even if you miss you don't have to start over.
