Anyone who follows mma could probably see this coming a mile away. I know I could. Every event they ran seemed to have some major flaw... a cut stoppage, a poke in the eye, etc. Nothing ever went as planned. And a smaller org experiencing growing pains surely wasn't the one to try to take mma mainstream. Dana's surely laughing right now, but the last UFC event (89) sucked more balls than I can remember.
I think in mma the fights are too short, the fighters gas too often from the 5 minute rounds, then they look sloppy, can be far too boring on the ground and have too many decisions to be mainstream. I like it, always will, but it seems now that it will only ever be ppv. The talent pool isn't yet deep enough to overcome these issues.
Maybe the way to go is back to the old tournament style.
that truely sucks...i was hoping to see more of the females esp carano and cyborg and kedzie as well as for the men? ehh they can do other shows. i think competition is good and the ufc now has just about none so they can do as they want.
I really dont like MMA but that really sucks for there fighters that wont be able to get jobs now. Im not positive but i dont theink that the UFC is intrested in womens mma fighting so that one whos name starts with a C is kinda out of luck which sucks
the upside is that there are a lot of free agents so promoters will be free to match up guys as they see fit. ie, there can be more mega fights, while Dana seems to think it has to be about contending for the title to be in the UFC. He believes that if you're not moving up, you're moving out (which is stupid, imo.) That presents great opportunities for fighters to still make money beyond the ufc.
granted you can make cash sans ufc, but what we talking $100 and a NAGA sword? not much comp to bust your ass for 2 months. same reason someone gave for the boxing talent pool drying up..pays better to play footbal or baseball or basketball than fight plus it may hurt less.
more scholarship opportunities for kids, esp . the inner city youth.
they had that whole company build around kimbo,
if kimbo trans like fuck and fight some top guys and
win he can rebound his career.
i cant see that happining. kimbo was a fresh face but
his days are over
go back to the streets

? EXC wasn't actually doing bad they were pulling in some good numbers for their Primetime shows. However they came into the game riding on that CBS contract whilst having a large debt. They also had some good talent (ex: Jake Shields, Robbie Lawler). Some fighters will have no trouble getting employed by a competing organization.
When you said they gas too often, isn't that negating you saying the rounds are too short? I think it's a good time limit, good fighters will not get gassed nearly as often as others.
