Default Vacation to Mexico, any gyms I could visit?

In December I am going away with my family for a 2 week long vacation to Mexico and I would like to know if anyone knows a boxing gym I could visit for a few days?

Yesterday I spoke to my couch and he told me I had shown such remarkable progress so that if I keep it up he wants me to participate in the Norwegian Amateur Junior Championship which is held in February 2009. (This will be my first time) therefor I don't want to sit still in Mexico but continue to practice as usual.

I am not intending to go to a boxing club everyday, I would just like to know if for example there was a club I could visit for 1-2 days and see how they train in Mexico and hopefully I can bring some of that inspiration back to my club in Norway.

The other days I will continue my daily schedule in the evening & mornings (IT*S HOT DOWN THERE!)

If anyone knows of a club that I could visit for 1-2 days (hopefully not charging any cash :P) I would be very glad to hear so.
The 2 cities I'm gonna visit is Mexico City and Veracruz

That sounds like fun. When you get to Mexico City, be sure to check out the Romanza boxing gym there. That's where the brothers Juan and Rafael Marquez train, anyone that get's a chance to watch them is in for a treat.

    Romanza boxing gym. Sweet
Do you think they'd be open for guest boxers 1-2 days?
In any case I hope I find it, hehe. I can't speak Spanish at all.

I don't think that it would be a problem, at the very least it's worth looking into. A few fighters there should be able to speak english, and if you just remember it's their gym and show them your respect they might even show you the ropes, mexican style.

There was a show on the discovery channel called Fight Quest a couple of guys went to Mexico city to train with mexican fighters and even fight a couple of exhibitions. You can watch it here: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v9587708m...autoWatch=true

posting here a little late lol, but hopefully it helps someone out....

i've visited Romanza gym in Mexico City once, to see Juan Manuel Marquez before his second fight with Manny Pacquiao, met Abner Mares there when he was still training with Nacho

it's a must visit for hardcore boxing fans. Mexico City is a great, great city, lots of fun, just got to be careful...

Romanza gym is in: Colonia Iztacalco, between the streets Anil and Resina

if you're up for adventure during the DAY, do not go at night, you take the brown metro line to Hippodromo stop, make your way out and take a taxi, tell the taxi driver the names of those two streets, don't stop for anyone in the metro and walk FAST, FAST, to avoid any problems. it will probably take you an hour to get there this way

if you take the metro, DO NOT WEAR A WATCH, or take your ipod, etc with you. dress plain and walk fast to stay under the radar

taking a taxi to the gym is safer but more expensive, probably around $40 roundtrip or more, negotiate with a trusty taxi cab from your hotel, taking the metro is more dangerous but more exhilarating lol
