That's true.. I think the only person who has said or maybe thinks Mundine is the best in the world is Mundine himself..
Most of Australia generally isn't into boxing in a big way.. Mundine got a fair bit of press at the start of his career and whenever he gets a fight, the news and papers give him a bit of attention, and the closet boxing fans come out to watch him. And a lot probably don't have much of an idea about boxing anyway, but they enjoy it as a "big fight"... But I don't think anyone is under the impression that he is a great boxer on the world stage...
Kostya on the other hand was accepted all around Australia as one of the best in the world.. I think most people here somewhat know what's going on.... I DO think that the Mundine fights are hyped a lot here and people that aren't in the know get the impression that they are bigger than they really are.. It is part of the reason he can always make some decent money here...
he really needed to stop Pintos if he can't put away a B class fighter whats going to happen when he fights someone like Sturm.
I think he could have won by stoppage, but in doing so would have risked being Ko'd himself. He proved he was a class above Pintos and i think he'd give Sturm all sorts of trouble if not beat him. Sturm wouldnt KO Soliman or school Green, and would probably struggle to go 12 with Kessler.
Anybody see a match between Mundine and Daniel Geale anytime soon?
That would be a good match up. Unfortunately Geale doesn't bring enough to the deal to make it happen.
