Say what yas will...that was one exciting fight, and IMO brings a much needed breath of fresh air to the HW division.

    Freakin brawl in there.

    Exactly.

When was the last time you seen an exciting heavyweight fight in there ?

Congratulations England, yall done got your own Jeff Lacy. I'm not going to hate because I was and still am a huge Jeff Lacy fan but damn, calm down for a second. I think Lacy was a more credible boxer though because he went through the US Amateur system and was an Olympian. So more teeth to that bite imo.

But yeah, he's a poor man's Jeff Lacy in a more glamorous division with more pro credentials that all are going to be questioned after his venture in the heavyweight division is through. Seriously he was WIDE OPEN in there jumping around with shots didn't land a clean punch with any of the ko force until the 5th round. If you're touting speed and power, you better be able to get the speed and power there cleanly. Haye's nickname suits him perfectly he is a haymaker fighter. He fights like guys played on Fight Night Round 2.

Vitali sees this, he's going along but Vitali or Wlad would absolutely work Haye. Still, he generates excitement for the division the way Lacy did.

How the fukk can you compare David Haye to Jeff Lacy ?

Haye has power and speed. Lacy is one-dimensional and struggled with medicore fighters.

    What a stupid comparison.

OK, I'm not going to talk about that comparision with you there is really no way that works out.

But let me ask you this. Did Haye look like one of the best and most skilled heavyweights in the world?

Yes, because there's a huge number of elite heavyweight fighters out there that are all far better than Haye.

The heavyweight division is shyte mate, absolute rubbish. There's a good chance that a chinny cruiser can be undisputed champ. That's the first heavyweight fight I haven't fallen asleep during for a few years now. Vlad and his china chin obviously want nothing to do with Haye so his giant-headed brother Vitali will fight him next year, and Haye will be twice as fast as he is. If he can take his punch Haye will beat him.

That's a great point, and I stopped just short of bringing that up but yes, there is no Joe Calzaghe in this division. However, I do thing there is a sizeable gap in talent between Haye and the Klitschko brothers or really anyone else at the top of the division.

I can't believe I am about to defend David Haye but you do know won a silver medal at the World Amatuer championships and that in unifying the cruiserweight division he has already acomplished much more than Jeff Lacy in the pro ranks too?

As for the rest, yes I hope he gets sparked soon.

I didnt think about that with Haye I just didn't articulate it very well. Just saying, people were saying that about him (Lacy) a lot more then I've heard Haye fans brag on what he did in the amateurs. Like I said he has more pro credentials.

So no I articulated that fine it was just you who needed clarification.

I don't think you articulated it at all well Amat, I mean Haye had a better amatuer pedigree than Lacy, Lacy never won a medal at the World championships. And in being a two time and undisputed cruiserweight champ Haye is ALREADY leaps and bounds above Lacy in terms of acomplishments.

Lacy (and I love Jeff Lacy he's my fave American fighter) never beat a genuine world champ at super middle whereas Haye sparked the universally recognised champ in his own back yard then whupped one of the other champs in two rounds for good measure.

As much as I HATE David Haye you can't deny the man's acomplishment's.

He's actually a p4p level fighter right now I mean whupping Mormeck, Maccerinelli and Barrett has got to be better than Chad Dawson's resume and Dawson is knocking on the door for a p4p spot.

Haye proved tonight he IS an awesome fighter, I just really wish he wasn't

    I thought Haye fought well.

He made Barrett miss alot and look slow - and Barrett isn't a bad mover for a Heavyweight. He slipped alot of jabs and evaded shots when Barrett was swinging desperatly.
Yeh he got caught bt one or two -but its a boxing match thats supposed to happen and he took the shots well - even flush when he was on the floor.

Hayes power is there he floored barrett 5 times without really catching him flush until the last Knockdown.

Hayes reflexes, hand and foot speed were superb and he has great accuracy.

Barrett wanted to win - he just couldn't.

Exciting and entertaining fight and you don't get many of those at Heavyweight these days.

    MORMECK MACCERINELLI AND BARRET?!?!?!?!? WHAT?!?!

I'm never one to downplay ANY accomplishment but beat a top 10 untested cruiserweight and an old champ and a heavyweight who literally no one has had trouble with in title fights. That's ridiculous Monte Barret is like Gary Lockett in terms of meaning anything.

By the way, I wasn't denying anything about Haye accomplishing more then Lacy I was just saying people were saying that about Lacy when he was on his run and btw he did clear out most of the top rated middleweights with the exception of Calzaghe while Calzaghe was fighting the Evans Ashiras of the world. There was nothing close to a Joe Calzaghe in the cruisers when Haye cleared it and he had trouble which is what hype makes you not realize. I'm telling you Bilbo he's right there to be picked apart despite these fantastic exciting performances just like Lacy. That was the comparision.
