David Haye's Opponent Will Likely Be Monte Barrett - Boxing News
Don't see the point in fighting somebody who has already lost to everyone Haye should be fighting. I guess he must be running out of options...

Better than JD Chapman.
Kind of feel sorry for Haye, all the upncoming heavyweights are waiting for a world title payday and wont risk losing it against Haye.
at this point haye is "likely" to fight just about anyone, i wouldn't be suprised if butterbean magically got ranked and got a call.

So they don't want to risk a title shot by fighting a live opponent, .. remarkably similar to the Haaymaker's own philosiphy.
I think that is a bit harsh on DH.
I think he would be willing to fight anybody in the world right now.
David Haye the promoter is worse than shit!! he has had 10 months to sort an opponent he is either greedy or stupid

This will be a hard sell for Haye if it is true considering every time Steve Bunce has mentioned Barret's name in the past few months Haye has dismissed him as an old man who has achieved nothing and that it wouldn't be a fight anyone is interested in.
Personally I'd like to see it, I think it will be competitive but I look forward to the about turn Haye will have to do from telling us a few weeks ago Barret definitely wasn't on the shortlist because he was a nobody to now being the likely opponent and a live one at that![]()
Well at least people have heard of Monte Barret, and after the losses he's had lately he's a good entry level fight, by that I mean Haye can do comparitively better or worse than Valuev, Klitschko and Rahman, in my humble opinion it is not a bad choice, especially as a last minute one.

And plus I am still thankful for him KTFO Tye Fields.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Good solid fight for Haye, I was thinking a fighter of Barrett calibre and name would be a good fight for him!
Dont forget the world beating Cliff Couser knocking him out in the second last year
Awe inspiring stuff from Haye yet again
Ah im not even interested, let him fight him, at least then we wont keep hearing loads of shiit, as long as he stops pretending its gonne be a genuine top heavy.

Doesnt matter, Couser still knocked BAarrett out embarrasingly early just last year.
Yes, Johnson has publicly said he would take the fight, so has Rahman and Toney, all available and willing to face Haye in Britain for the money on offer and all leagues above Barrett![]()
I think it's an ok opponent considering the step up in weight class.
I think with the hype surrounding Haye moving up, people are feeling a little deflated by this opponent.
I believe they should have just said from the outset that there would be a durable American heavy who has fought a few people for World titles being brought in to assess how good Haye is at this moment in time.
In light of the above, Barrett is pretty reasonable.
He's fought the likes of Valeuv etc and therefore (Couser aside) he makes a good litmus test for now.
