Probably. The only person who has a snowball's chance in hell right now against Calzaghe is Dawson. Dawson can almost match Joe's handspeed and he can fight going backwards. If he can take shots from Johnson, he can survive Joe's punches and have a chance to land some meaningful shots of his own. I still think Joe wins, but it's closer fight than many people think. Certainly closer than Taylor.

Wrong, Dawson is fucked with a guy who comes right at him, Glen Johnson caused him all osrts of shit and he is a fucking journeyman at best. Dawson has talent, but is being way overhapyd, he looked good against Tarver because he is shit and didn;t once throw back, everytime Chad threw he just stood there and tried to cover up. He threw, 2,3 ,4 ,5 punch shots and Tarver neevr tried to slip them or counter, he just let him do what ever the fuck he wanted. When a guy moves his head and comes right at Dawson he has problems.

Are you insane ? the only fight Glen Johnson has ever lost convincingly is to Bernard Hopkins, all his other fights have been questionable and they could of easily all gone his way.

Plus the "Journeyman" beat a younger RJJ more convincingly than Joe Calzaghe did, show some more respect to Glen Johnson. And watch more of his fights and learn about a fighter before you comment on em.

Joe has all it takes to beat anyone in either the LH or SMW divisions but I want him to shut up doubters and fight the guys most people and posters on here want him to fight.

Shut up, Preme. Talking about Glen Johnson like that shows just how little you know about boxing. Johnson is one of the best pressure fighters out there and he hits twice as hard as Calzaghe. Dawson looked great against Adamek, who has moved up to Cruiser and done well. He beat Tarver totally. He beat Johnson clearly, though it was a close fight. It took Calzaghe until he was in his 30's to get the resume Dawson has now. When was the last time Calzaghe fought somebody with the combination of size, handspeed, and stamina of Dawson? Hmm...I think never.

Don't get me wrong, I would favor Joe, like I said, but if you think Joe will whip Dawson like he whipped and old Roy Jones or Jeff Lacy, you're smokin' crack. Think about it. Joe beat Kessler 116-112 on two judges cards and 117-111 on another. A clear win, but hardly a cake walk. I guess you don't think that a guy who is bigger, faster, and beaten harder competition than Kessler is going to easier fight? He's not going to have a chance?

Even when somebody is paying Calzaghe a compliment, you get pissed if you aren't hugging his nuts. Go back to Joe's house and finish that rimjob you were giving him before you stopped write that dumb post.

Don't worry, Joe will fight Taylor and call it his greatest victory.

The more I see the Roy Jones- Calzaghe fight, Joe wasn't able to really imprint himself on the fight until the cut, every round in the first six Roy was punching back, and making it interesting. Also Calzaghe wasn't landing very cleanly on Roy.

I believe Dawson has better handspeed than Calzaghe, because he is actually throwing his punches along with that speed. Roy IMO also had faster handspeed, because it takes speed off your punches a little to throw them properly. Anybody can slap quickly, but how many people can throw combinations like Mike Tyson quickly?

Chad Dawson is a little faster than Calzaghe, but he is fighting up hill battle, I think he did a great job against Glen Johnson, and showed he can deal with somebody throwing punches at him a lot, because he continued to fire right back. But Joe is a lot faster than Glen Johnson and harder to hit.

My question is while Glen Johnson could deal with Chad Dawson's punches, how will Joe deal wtih Dawson's power? People are saying Joe has a great chin, but both Hopkins and JOnes don't hit anywhere near as hard as they did in their prime and they both hurt and dropped him. Dawson at this point hits harder than either of them. Kessler is a solid puncher, but not a super heavy puncher, and he hurt Calzaghe several times in their fight. I know Joe responded brilliantly everytime he got hurt, but these other three guys don't have the workrate, power(even though Dawson isn't a BIG puncher), or speed Dawson has.

I don't think calzagfhe was hurt with the hopkins knockout, he was more surprised that he went down with a flash knockdown. With roy he was hurt and I thought roy had him.

I think Calzaghe would dominate Taylor.

Taylor wouldn't be able to handle Joe's pressure. Also, Jermain's best punch is the left jab, and that's a punch that's tough to land against a southpaw like Joe... just ask Kessler.

I think HBO was pushing the Calzaghe-Taylor fight just because Taylor is an HBO guy and Dawson isn't.

You could tell in the post fight interview that Taylor wanted nothing with Calzaghe. When asked if he wanted Joe next he said the usual, 'I'll fight anyone who my team want me to', and then made a comment about he trusted his promoter. It almost sounded like he needed the reassurance of his team that he could beat Calzgaghe, and that if they got him the fight that would mean they'd believe he'd win.

But Jermain has never done anything in his career to suggest he could beat Calzaghe, and I think Jermain knows it.

He would be mentally beaten before he had even signed the contract, let alone stepped inside the ropes.

Wasn't Winky Wright a southpaw pressure fighter? Taylor landed a few punches on him. Whether or not you liked the decision in that match, Wright definitely did not dominate Taylor.

Taylor seems to fight up or down to the level of his competition; he might not beat Calzaghe, but he would give him a fight.

If I were Joe, I would sit out and let Chad and Taylor each fight another meaningful fight. For example, if Froch beats Pascal, and choses to fight Taylor next, fight the winner of that fight.

Calzaghe would hit Taylor with combinations everytime he did that rub his brow with his glove thing. I don't think Taylor - Calzaghe would be competitive at all. I like Taylor being a factor at 168 though and can definately see him making an impact there. I think Taylor - Bute would be a great match style wise.

Joe ain't coming down to 168 and Taylor just got there, it isn't going to happen.

IMO it's only Dawson for Joe. IMO Dawson doesn't hit as hard as Kessler, but he is faster and a southpaw which Joe hasn't fought for a while. Dawson is tall but he ain't a big LH, he works on the weights to get him up to 175 if I rememebr an interview before the Johnson fight.

He has to bulk up to make 175? That seems strange, surely then he should be fighting at SMW where he'd have more advantages...
