Default Your thoughts on this article about Steve Molitor?

Most, if not all, the stories I've seen come out of Canadian sources have been quick to rip into Molitor following his loss to Caballero. Most say that he fought no one of note prior to Caballero, that he was exposed, and insinuating his career was in jeopardy - if not over. One I read, which is mentioned this article, went so far as to make fun of his nickname.

I was as disappointed as anyone in the outcome of the fight but I don't understand why us Canadian's are pissing all over the guy just because he lost a fight.

This is the only one I've seen which hasn't discredited him. I do believe the writer over-states his level of competition prior to the Caballero fight, but his other points stand IMO. I'm still a fan, fuck the bandwagoners.

Sometimes a loss helps a fighter to become better. If anything it makes them want to improve, he's got alot he can improve from what I saw. Maybe thats a new trainer or maybe not.

Boxing fans have REDICULOUSLY high standards for the athletes and this is a sport where losing is less acceptable than in any other. People see weakness and are quick to jump on a fighter and talk crap about them. Its a crappy part of the sport. It seems like sportswriters/casters are just itching to bury guys when they show any bit of weakness (Paulie Malignaggi just recently as well).

To hell with that. Molitor is an extremely skilled individual, anyone who knows anything about boxing can plainly see that, regardless of compedition. Remember everyone wrote off Wlad when he got blown out by Sanders, saying he was a fraud and he got his high ranking from politics or because he was white, and we saw how he overcame that setback (and the Brewster one). Anyone who says Molitor's career is over is a jack@ss. Steve will be back and IMO better because of this loss.

The article you refer to was pretty inconsequential IMO, and I really don't think Canadians as a whole are dumping on Molitor, just because this article says so.

I liked Molitor, still do, I thought he showed good skills and he had a pretty good run. Hell, even the inimitable ICE COLD BOXING had him in his top ten I believe. But exposed? Well yeah kinda, I'm sorry to say, cause he looked like he hadn't a clue how to deal with the reach and height advantage of a guy like Caballero.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I agree he didn't have a clue versus Caballero and that there are now questions about his chin, but luckily for Molitor he'll never have to deal with another fighter with the size advantage of a Caballero, the guy is a freak for the weight class. I'm not even saying he wasn't exposed, but only time will tell if that is the case.

I read a few articles about Molitor following the fight, and some the of the ones from Canadian sources were pretty harsh. Here are a couple I found in a quick search, only the first one is more critical than the second one, but comparing Molitor to De Witt is ludicrous IMO.
