It doesn't open in theaters until this Friday, so I haven't read any reviews on it yet.

But here is an extended preview, for those who haven't seen it.

wow...I just watched some of this, the old version, on turner classic movies not long ago, like a few weeks and was thinking it would be a good remake, like War of the Worlds. Now that I think on it, it was likely why they were showing it then...knowing this was coming out. I only caught about 10 mins and am glad now so it won't be spoiled.

I like watching those old movies, and most of them I don't think would translate well, and should be preserved for their integrity...but the sci fi ones? Exact opposite. Those are complimented IMO by a modern frame of reference. The movie snobs over at rottentomato.com prob. won't agree.

Me too, I find that usually the tomato indicator is very accurate.

This movie is not yet rated on there though, is there still aren't any ratings after Wednesday (when advanced screenings begin) that's usually
    a bad sign.

ha yea...that came out wrong. I like ROTTEN TOMATOES: Movies - New Movie Reviews and Previews! and use it for referencing everything movie related.

I do find it accurate for the most part, although I still say they and the entire world screwed up the reviews for "Grandmas Boy", as it was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

There are a bred of 'movie snobs' I call them over there with blogs and such who are forever trashing remakes.
