I have Margarito as a solid favorite in this fight.

However, instead of just wondering about what version of Mosley will show up... how about Margarito?

I'm very interested to see how he has dealt with success. He spent his whole career as the hungry overlooked guy who had something to prove. Now he's coming off the biggest win of his career (in a brutal, draining fight), and he's spent the last 6 months listening to everyone saying how great he is. Maybe he'll show up better and more confident than ever, or maybe he'll be like Vernon Forrest vs. Mayorga and show up unfocused or distracted. We don't know for sure.

Really doubt either of these guys will take any shortcuts in training.. It could be interesting to see if Margarito took enough damage in the Cotto fight to make him less durable perhaps, I think Mosley hits a bit harder still and may gain more respect, but it certainly shouldn't come down to a lack of preperation on either side. Mosley has always been a gym rat and knows this is a massive legacy fight for him, no question he will be up for it. Margarito as well is an extremely hard worker, he needs to be. He just doesn't have the ability to be able to come in anything but peak condition, it's what he relies on to win. Plus he's got the Cotto rematch lined up, he couldn't possibly think he'd get away with fighting Mosley in less than top shape.

I like both these fighters Mosely could win though if he boxes him Cotto did well in first 5 or 6 rounds boxing Tony is coming off a career best win vs Cotto but hey he ain't unbeatable is he.

If the Oscar v Pac fight taught us all anything is that you cannot take these fights as given. Moseley could easily win this fight and it will not be more of a surprise than Pac beating Oscar.

So if Shane was to fight the perfect tactical fight...or somehow manage to land that incredible shot...anything is possible.
If Shane backs up. He loses.

Well i think it comes down to it if Margrito can hurt Mosley i dont see the chance of Margrito winning the fight because he needs to break down the fighter he is facing it is part of his whole deal to break the fighter down if he can not do that then i think he loses by a ud in a close fight.

Well I figured Cotto would KO Mosley but Miguel took breaks.....Margarito doesn't break no matter what is coming back at him.

Antonio Margarito has the body type to beat Shane Mosley (tall and lanky), he doesn't have the style (Forrest and Wright) but he has enough output to really endanger Shane.....Oscar is going to thank his lucky stars he took the Pacquiao fight instead of the fight with Margarito!

I had Mayorga winning against Mosley, granted it was at 154.
But his output has horrible and it seemed he was only looking for a KO, which he was.
If Margarito's punch output is the same as it has, IMO they will be too much for Mosley.
I'm going to watch the Mayorga fight again.

this imo is a hard fight to pick. i certainly wouldn't make a prediction base on the mayorga fight coz i think shane underestimated him and didn't train as well as he should have. tony will get hit a lot in the early goings but will keep on coming. if shane puts enough damage to him he might be able to slow him down going down the stretch. i almost certain margarito will be the stronger guy at the end but mosley will have enough stamina to finish the fight for a close decision which could go either way.

i think margarito might have beat up oscar and knocked him out but he wouldn't look as terrible as he did against the pacman.

By the way, Shane HAS the style to beat Margarito. Margarito could beat Floyd too, but Shane has THE style.

Only thing is, Shane is fighting little bit of that father time, while he fights Tony.

But people forget, Shane has pop and power, especially his underated body punches.

I think Mosley will get battered to be quite honest with you. I hate to say this because he is one of my favourite fighters who I have grown up admiring, but over the last few years I've seen all my favourites fade and take a beating (Tszyu, RJJ, ODLH and Evander just to name a few) but I honestly think that he would have taught Margarito a lesson in his prime.

Was gonna post something along the same lines. Cotto could have stopped Shane if he kept the pace up, something Marg WILL do..

BIS Shane fan, but this version simply doesn't have the engine to survive.

I saw it the other way around. Shane could have stopped Cotto.

People always underestimate Shane, that's why he always manages to stay around and continue to fight in marquee matchups.

I hope not. I'm a big Mosley fan, and have always had the utmost admiration for him. I'll be cheering for him against Margarito, although I like Margarito also.

I can't help thinking how here's Mosley, willing to face the big, bad Margarito... recognized as a dangerous fighter for any welterweight, while frigging Golden Boy over there decided to face the much smaller Pacquiao and got his face rearranged.

Makes me respect Mosley even more.
