    I was a tubby kid. Started sports becuase I wanted to slim down. When I started boxing, although I was tubby I could move and found I have decent reflexes. I fell ion love with the sport and it became an obsession.

    I wanted to learn a martial art. I narrowed it down to the ones I thought were most cost effective: boxing, kickboxing, and muay thai. I looked into muay thai first because I like chuck Liddel, but the guy near my house charged a fortune. Then I looked into kickboxing. On my way to look for Cooper's Boxing and Kickboxing in Detroit I stumbled onto a small boxing gym along the way.I went in thinknig it had to be the place. But it wasn't. It was a dedicated boxing gym, and I'm glas I found it.

    But I'll still kick my bag once in a while... I love boxing but I still have a soft spot for muay thai and kickboxing...

    I've only just started boxing myself, but I started because I've always had this fixation with getting stronger and eventually being the strongest in the world someday. Boxing is my first step towards that goal.

    My sisters ex-boyfriend hit my sister one night giving her a black eye and I couldn't do anything about it. I wanted revenge to be honest, but I fell in love with the sport, like the rest of you guys.

    One thing the sport gives you is the ability to move past base survival,instead of fighting to survive you can look at a guy and think,"I could kick seven kinds of crap out of you,but I choose not to"

    I agree. I'm far from a very good boxer but knowing that I've now had fists thrown at me more than the regular man gives me confidence in being able to look after myself. I don't think I'll panic as much if it ever happens (i've not been in a fight yet and I would like to keep it as such).

    That and the fact that I'll be able to run away for faster and longer

    Boxing has been an interest of mine for a long time. It's only been recently that I've made the commitment to go to a gym with my intention on competing.

    A kid from my gym the other day asked me if I'm going to be a pro boxer like the guys on the posters. I said, I'll see. If I can get good enough, anything can happen.
    If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

    I believe in visualizing things, then taking the necessary steps to getting there. Chances are, if you can't ever see yourself getting to some sort of pinnacle...you likely won't get there. Now dreaming it alone isn't going to do it..but without the dream I doubt much more would materialize.

    i started becuase steve foster jr was at my house 1 day cuz hes friends with my dad. but this was the fist time i had seen him n was amazed 2 think he was a pro boxer so i asked him wat gym he went he told me olivers told me the days its open n ive been boxing since and had 23 amatuer fights
