Sure money is important. But the chance to sell out a stadium and make a real event would be magnificent. And it could never happen in the states with any fighter.

And the real US fans who enjoy boxing, which would likely be the Americans that follow or know Hatton and Manny, would most likely pay anyway to watch it at a slightly irregular hour.

The Klitschko's can do it. Why can't Hatton??

Just a little and slightly ethnocentric rant, but one that wanted to come out regardless.
    I have to agree completely

these are two foreign fighters...and americans only give a damn about american born fighters...thats why oscar was so big.

This fight is probably gonna do about 500k buys in the states because most foreign fighters do not sell to casual fans, but the die hard boxing fan will order this fight.

The fight should be in Dubai in my opinion for neutral ground, Dubai is filthy rich and they love hatton and pacquiao there.

They can make much more money on just tickets sales by holding the fight at Wembley. However a Vegas casino will give them millions of dollars to hold the fight in their casino rather than at Wembley, which will charge maybe a million to stage the fight there. But the main thing here is that HBO won't do a PPV fight featuring two non-American boxers from another country. If Manny and Ricky want the PPV money from America then they have to hold it in the States.

100000 tickets at £100 average is ten million quid, or 15 million American.
Let's say 13 after fees. A Vegas casino will pay five million for this fight, so let's say they're ahead eight million by holding it at Wembley. Let's say it does only 500000 PPV buys in the States. They get roughly half the total PPV take, so they'd make $ twelve and a half million from the PPV. Even if it does Pavlik-Hopkins/Jones-Calzaghe numbers they probably come out ahead, but they're guaranteed to do better and the upside is massive. If it does a million PPV buys they split $25 million just from US TV. They're not having it in Vegas because they'd make more money holding it in England.

A typically stupid Moono post, shocking

Well I mean of course Arum's not gonna want Pac to fight with 90, 000 Hatton fans there, fan support like that could possibly influence scoring in a tight fight.

It would be an event though, just from the perspective of a normal fan.

I'am a bit disappointed with Hatton and his managment if the fight happens in vegas. He should stand firm and fight in Britain It would be a huge night for britain and boxing around the world if a boxing match sold 90,000+ tickets.

Hatton has no choice in this. He going where Pac's people tell him to go. Don't blame Hatton. Just be happen Hatton is getting his shot at Pac.

Hatton and his team have a say where he fights, if he fights in vegas there will be only about 8,000 of his fans will get tickets and many 1000s wont.Where if it was in britain it would sell at least 80-90,000 easy. Iam not disrespecting Manny's fans but no fighter on the planet can match Hatton for pulling in the crowds.

I wonder how many PPV sales Manny would do in the US if his opponent wasn't Oscar or a Latino fighter. If this fight gets made we're going to find out and I expect it to be limited. Hatton-Manny won't do anywhere near a million US PPV buys in my opinion, maybe less than 500 000. Hatton's UK PPV money total might even be in the same ballpark. I'm no expert on how much Manny's domestic TV market is worth to the promotion but seeing as the GDP of the Phillipines is about 5% of the UK's then I'm guessing Manny's home market is worth relative buttons. The economic leverage is actually pretty samey on both sides in this negotiation.

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread so this may have already been said.

But the simpe truth is it's Hatton and Manny who want the fight in Vegas, it has nothing to do with what the fans want.

Vegas & US PPV makes more money for both fighters, period.

I don't blame them at all, I'd do the same.

It would be just as great if it happens in Vegas, but a fight at Wembley would be historical.
