Im sick of this pandering to what the US audience wants. Its a fight between a Brit and a Filipino. Both huge fighters on their own terms.

Sure money is important. But the chance to sell out a stadium and make a real event would be magnificent. And it could never happen in the states with any fighter.

And the real US fans who enjoy boxing, which would likely be the Americans that follow or know Hatton and Manny, would most likely pay anyway to watch it at a slightly irregular hour.

The Klitschko's can do it. Why can't Hatton??

Just a little and slightly ethnocentric rant, but one that wanted to come out regardless.

exactly - midnight here would be 7pm in New York and what 4pm west coast ??

Is that too unreasonable for a Saturday fight in USA

let the american audience have a fight at an irregular time for a change. We been suffering for years - just this once guys come on

I REALLY wanted to see this live at Wembley Ive already persuaded some of my mates to come down too. It would have been a huge event.

Well, I'll have to watch another big fight on a screen in the middle of the pissing night.....Again. Sick of this shit.

I think Wembley was ONLY a serious possibility for the Oscar fight.

No one outside the hardcore knows who Pac is here.. judging by the media in the run-up to the Oscar fight.

Don't know why Arum said "5am".. American TV has been happy with 1-2am plenty of times in the past.. Bruno-Witherspoon, Calzaghe-Lacy, Hatton-Tsyzu, Haye-Enzo.. But if the fighters will earn the same/more dough in Vegas then that's where they'll do it.

They are completely reasonable times to watch a fight you are interested in. I have to watch fights between 10am and 1pm where I live. I watch them all (except for the bloody Toney fight) because I love boxing. Im sure all the Brits that stay up until 5am do it because they love their boxing. 7pm and 4pm are reasonable times to watch a live EVENT. And an event it is.

Its time Ricky showed some backbone and muscle when it comes to the wrangling outside the ring. Lazacano drew that many and he's a bum. Let the homebase see a real fight. They've waited long enough.

Fukk Bob Arum. This is a Brit and a Filipino thing. Wembley Stadium has been brought up for months. Manny said he would fight at England, Ricky wants it. Why should the people of England have to watch it in the US? It involves nobody in the US. It would be more succesful here. 100,000 people would go to watch it LIVE. How many fit in the MGM ? No where near that. Bob Arum calling the shots, old bastard

    I have to agree completely

these are two foreign fighters...and americans only give a damn about american born fighters...thats why oscar was so big.

This fight is probably gonna do about 500k buys in the states because most foreign fighters do not sell to casual fans, but the die hard boxing fan will order this fight.

The fight should be in Dubai in my opinion for neutral ground, Dubai is filthy rich and they love hatton and pacquiao there.

They can make much more money on just tickets sales by holding the fight at Wembley. However a Vegas casino will give them millions of dollars to hold the fight in their casino rather than at Wembley, which will charge maybe a million to stage the fight there. But the main thing here is that HBO won't do a PPV fight featuring two non-American boxers from another country. If Manny and Ricky want the PPV money from America then they have to hold it in the States.

100000 tickets at £100 average is ten million quid, or 15 million American.
Let's say 13 after fees. A Vegas casino will pay five million for this fight, so let's say they're ahead eight million by holding it at Wembley. Let's say it does only 500000 PPV buys in the States. They get roughly half the total PPV take, so they'd make $ twelve and a half million from the PPV. Even if it does Pavlik-Hopkins/Jones-Calzaghe numbers they probably come out ahead, but they're guaranteed to do better and the upside is massive. If it does a million PPV buys they split $25 million just from US TV. They're not having it in Vegas because they'd make more money holding it in England.

A typically stupid Moono post, shocking

Well I mean of course Arum's not gonna want Pac to fight with 90, 000 Hatton fans there, fan support like that could possibly influence scoring in a tight fight.

It would be an event though, just from the perspective of a normal fan.

I'am a bit disappointed with Hatton and his managment if the fight happens in vegas. He should stand firm and fight in Britain It would be a huge night for britain and boxing around the world if a boxing match sold 90,000+ tickets.
