I dont quite see how Tarver will win at this stage, but at least if he loses again he will have a clearer picture regarding his place in boxing.
He may not be the second coming, but he is damn good.

Who beats Dawson at 175 that is still fighting? Bhop won't give Chad the time of day because Chad has the style to beat Bhop. He schooled Tarver. He is all wrong for Woods. And does the same to Roy. That leaves Glen Johnson and Adrian Diaconu. Glen deserves the rematch and I'll admit it would be interesting. Diaconu is untested against the elite although he has potential.
Yes, he is good. Very good, actually.

But top level fighters should be very good. I just dont think he has done all that much yet. I would like to see him face Calzaghe if anybody. Calzaghe is the best fighter out there, nobody better to test yourself against. But as it is, I have no qualms with Tarver trying to have another go. And its good practice for Dawson.

Calzaghe is RETIRED, and Hopkins is better than him. This isn't about testing Dwason, he has already beaten Adamek(the current best cruiserweight), Glen Johnson, Tarver, and Harding... He hasn't done all that much? That was more than everything Calzaghe did before he faced Kessler and Hopkins.

Calzaghe is not retired you dumb piece of malignant meat. And Hopkins is nowhere near the level of Calzaghe anyways. Dawson might be mighty pretty, but he gets taken down like a little sheep when Joe gets in there.
You like your Dawson, but he isnt as good as you like to think.

I know Chad Dawson has beaten quality fighters, and i have seen alot of his fights. And he is one of my favorite fighters at the moment, but i just feel he isn't quite ready for Joe Calzaghe yet.

I don't know why i feel that way considering Chad Dawson has looked. Impressive in recent fights, but i just get the feeling he isn't quite the finished article yet.

Whether i like Joe Calzaghe or not doesn't mean im unbiased, i give Joe Calzaghe credit for what he has done. And he adjusts well in fights, and his determination/workrate are quite incredible.

Thats why i feel Chad Dawson isn't ready for someone of Joe Calzaghe's class, Joe Calzaghe brings so much pressure that Chad Dawson would be shocked, because no way has he ever been in with someone of Joe Calzaghe's class.

And it doesn't matter if Joe Calzaghe's punches aren't really powerful shots, they still add up and have opponents tiring down the stretch, and the way Chad Dawson takes rounds off. And just stands there and lets opponents whail on him, would be the worst thing he could do.

Against a combination puncher who throws as many punches as Joe Calzaghe, the only problem is that Joe Calzaghe is surely retiring soon, so Chad Dawson might not have any chance to wait. And he will have to fight Joe Calzaghe ASAP.

If Hopkins is nowhere near Calzaghe's level then why did he beat him in anyone's eyes that knows anything about boxing? As for Dawson, baring a knockout that ruins his career he is more talented than anyone else has been in the MW to LHW divisions since prime RJJ. He's faster than guys like Calzaghe, hits harder than him, actually throws meaningful punches. And Calzaghe is retired, when has he said otherwise? He said fuck Froch, I'm retiring there is no fight out there for me. When both Kessler and Hopkins were calling him out, He should have fought Hopkins again because most people don't believe he beat Bernard. Bernard is better than Calzaghe against most opponents, and at least equal against eachother.

I don't see the point in arguing the same point about Calzaghe and Hopkins again. Really. Either way clearly it wasn't either fighter's best performance. And why do you turn every post into an anti-Calzaghe tirade. I didn't mean to instigate that at all. If I did I apologize.

Dawson only very barely squeaked by Glen Johnson. The cards were 116-112, but the fight was a lot closer. Glen deserves a rematch; they have unfinished business. Tarver was right when he said Dawson looked like a deer in headlights after that fight.

If I were Dawson and I couldn't get Bhop I would make a very generous offer to fight Erdei in Germany because he will easily win that one and take a belt.

Diaconu has one fight before fighting Glen Johnson. If Johnson wins, give Johnson the rematch. If Diaconu wins, fight him. Either way you have two of the major belts.

Kessler doesn't need to step up in weight to fight Dawson when the smw division is as deep as it is. If I were him, I'd clear out my division.

    Why

Johnson is much more deserving!!! IMO Tarver/ Johnson with the winner to face Dawson would have been better.

I don't think Tarver can do anything different & Dawson wins a UD again!!!

Johnson is more deserving. He didn't look like a beaten man at the end of their fight. Tarver didn't need a score card to tell him he'd lost.

And Tarver pitty-patted Johnson to get the W. Not that that's a bad strategy; the guy isn't getting knocked out by anyone and Tarver needed gas in the tank to close out the fight. But Dawson actually engaged and won a great deal more respect, at least from me, by beating Johnson the way he did.

The first fight was not exciting and was unanimous decision. Glenn Johnson must be really really annoyed.
