Thats a good point, who would be the draw? I think it would be Manny, he has a bigger fanbase internationally. I consider him the much bigger star. Could they come to an agreement about the purse split?

Mayweather if Oscar retires is the most well known current boxer in America. That is why all of his last few ppv's have all done relatively well, Mayweather-Judah, Mayweather-Baldomir, Mayweather-Gatti, Mayweather-Dela Hoya, MAyweather-Hatton. We really don't know how big of a name Pacquiao is yet from the fight with Oscar, I guess we can compare the Pacquiao-Hatton fight to the MAyweather-Hatton fight.

Mayweather will sell more PPV's than Pac.

And I hope he is back!

Hate him or not, Mayweather will bring excitement once again. Many, including me, wants to see him loose. His fights keep me on my toes just hoping he gets connected, KOed, etc. Another reason why I miss Naz. Didn't like him until he lost convincingly. His ring entrances, his style, his KOs, etc. There are lots of big fights in the horizon if Mayweather returns.

i REALLY really really really hope this is true.. I hope he fights cotto or margarito instead of hatton or pac but i doubt that will happen.. i feel this way because he'd have a harder time against them, and i'd rather not see him dominate pac/hatton because that's what will happen..

    here's to hoping!..

Hhhmmm Mayweather facing Cotto, eh? I wonder how Cotto would do with a young big name in his prime, not a journeyman. As for Margarito, somehow, I can see another Baldomir-like scene where you have a big slow puncher walking forward getting connected with straights, hooks, etc. And having Mayweather move out of the way like a matador with his bull. Maybe going to the ropes on ocassions only to shoulder-roll punches and once again move out of the way to box him to an easy unanimous decision. I can't see Mayweather knocking both though.

yea now that i look at it. I dont see cotto beating PBF but would stand a better chance than Margarito since Cotto is faster and a better boxer. I think floyd stops Cotto too.

but i rather see him fight pac just to see how pac fans take a lopsided loss

Its seems silly to me that in boxing they decide what split they will get before the fight. Why don't they have a system where the winner gets a larger split?

Yes Pac, shut PBF's huggers.... and let Mayweather retire for good coz he's a shame to boxing.... err.... I mean his elbows and dirty tactics is a shame to boxing.

Before I forgot, let him also retire for good for ducking margarito, williams and cotto.

Ohhh.. By the way, after Pac beats PBF.... how would you call it JT? That PBF is already retired and past his prime?

    Right

Bruce you are such a bore to debate with since you are fairly limited in your knowledge of boxing it makes it difficult to reason with you... I myswell find a 5th grader to talk boxing with

I hope he comes back, but until he does, i'm sick of him getting attention regarding IF he's coming back... THAT is the boring part to me... I enjoy the discussion of his previous fights and whether he'd beat this or that person if he fought them, but until his signature is on the bottom of a fight contract, he's retired for life as far as i'm concerned..
I don't think he has the love of the game of boxing like people such as Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, and even guys like Pernell who CLEARLY aged so much and with his drug abuse and injuries, was almost like an E grade fighter when he returned into the ring for his last fights, but he got back in because he loved the game..

I think that fact Floyd was thrown into the ring from such a young age and comes from a line of boxers and was always expected to be a champion etc etc, I think he really wants to just have a big part of his life seperate to boxing.. I don't even know what i'm saying actually.. I just think he see's boxing differentely to some of the other guys that could be mentioned, and perhaps if he needs more money he'll return to the ring, but how he see's boxing and what he set out to take from it and give back to it is clearly a little bit different to other fighters... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all,,, but maybe he is done with boxing for good?

I would love to see him back in the ring, but at the same time, if the fact he tried to make it very clear when he retired that it was for good,,,, and it actually IS for good, then i'd love for that to be clear to everyone and the speculation to cease.. I mean how many years and how many challengers are going to come through and we're going to wonder if Floyd will come back to fight them?? It would be great to just know whether he will return or not..

So to me, he's not, until his signature is on a piece of paper..

    That it all....

What exactly was his reason to retire prematurely? Was it reason enough to stay retired permanently, I am confused even more from the new "pressess".

Father Bob Arum once said that when it comes to PBF, it is an exercise in irrational behavior to predict his next moves. I guess it gets silly and tiresome after a while, to try and figure out the guy!

    Is he really back?

If Floyd is back he's a genius.

Margarito has just committed to fighting Shane. Thats two hazardous styles out of the way.

Cotto is busy with Jennings and may have lost his razor edge.

Hatton has just redeemed himself and has prioved he can make lots and lots of money.

A huge name in Pacquaio has presented himself.

I expect Floyd to be back and I expect him to act ther bad guy more than ever.

The more disdain for Floyd the more money he makes.
