Different guards and defensive styles

One thing I try to explain to boxers,is different stances are really built for either different situations,or more often different body types
A straight line stance,which doesnt get taught often enough anymore,is pretty basic jab hand up,power hand down,total coverage,relatively basic,and should be(but anymore usually isnt) the first style you learn
The reverse of that stance,jab down,power up,was originally designed to compensate for a tired jab hand. These days it gets taught alot as a base stance,but thats what its really for
Double hands up,is more or less designed for high speed,low power fighters to allow them to keep their hands constantly in a light punching position. To be honest,I hate this style
The Philly shell is designed to cover ground while deflecting punishment,its best used by fighters who are short for their weight

well im 5'3"-4" and weigh about 155 lbs. but not all that flabby and what not,should be comin down weigh.
I ask this because Im going to start boxing again ive been out of action for about 1 1/2 yrs only boxes for almost 2yrs,nothin professional but ima spar a whole lot more so I was askin to see how i should take care of myself in the ring defensively that is. So any tips are appreciated.

Id have to see you,if your fast,the double up should work,you need to slip well for the Philly shell,but if you can slip well Id probably have you do that,because your a little short for your weight,so you probably need to close distance

Can you discribe those two for me?
double up and phillyshell if im not mistaken is where i have my right hand across my chest and the left across abdomen right?

If youve watched alot of mexican boxing,youve seen the double up,both hands kept near the temples,I really dislike this style but I rarely get speed demons in here
