I think Taylor will fight whoever HBO tell him to fight.

Froch talks a lot of smack, huh?
My favorite part was when Froch said to get out from under the "Little Rock."
Carl Froch Denies Rib Injury, Blasts Team Jermain Taylor - Boxing News
Yup
We saw in the inetrview he had with Larry Merchant after the Spinks fight that he is only interested in money and nothing more. He doesnt care about the sport so adding the WBC title means nothing to him unless it brings the money
If HBO arent keen on Froch all they need do is watch the Pascal fight to see how exciting Carl is
Let me just first say that I think Carl Froch is one of the most over-hyped fighters to come out of Britain in my lifetime. Apart from Pascal (who himself was probably a year or two too green for Froch), I don't think he has fought anyone at all credible to be justifying claims of being the best SMW in the world. I think when he does step up against the best guys at 168 he will get found out.
However, I think he should beat Taylor. I've never understood the hype about JT, he's a guy who I thought lost the 5 biggest fights of his career (Hopkins x2, Winky & Pavlik x2) & yet still gets this hype as some world-class boxer. In addition, some of the scorecards he's had in other fights (such as against Ouma & Spinks) have been riduculously favourable towards him. I think Froch will have to knock him out or completely dominate him, just to make sure that he gets the win. Rant over![]()
He has beat Bhop twice - a first ballot hall-of-famer. Who has decisively beat Bhop? Calzaghe beat him by split decision, and Taylor beat him 115-113 all the way around. People say Bhop beat Calzaghe and beat Taylor. Bhop is great, but he fights ugly, and it is difficult to beat him decisively. Even if you felt Bhop won, you couldn't have judged those fights as not close, right? Even just that should merit some commendation. He had a draw against Winkie Wright, which is nothing to be embarrassed about. His only legitimate losses were to Pavlik. Without a doubt, he has been in the right with far more talented fighters than Froch. Not really even close. Thus, you must think Froch can beat Taylor because of his potential and because of what you've seen from him. Which is what?
In the battle of guys who keep their left arms low, I like Taylor - assuming that he has figured out his stamina issue by boxing at 168, which at least from how he looked against Lacy, it appears he has. He is more experienced. He is faster. Froch won't pose stylistic problems. The only reason I'm not completely sure is because Froch has a chin, and has a chance to outlast Taylor.
Why don't both fighters suck it up and do the fight for less money on Showtime?
No I could see the B-Hop fights as close, I had the first 116-112 & the second 115-113 in Hopkin's favour. I also felt he lost to Winky Wright 115-113, so again I admit it was close. The first Pavlik fight I thought he was behind on the cards at the stoppage (to be fair so did he) & I thought the 2nd Pavlik won easily 117-111. I have to say that I was a fan of his prior to that succession of fights but then he just kept getting favourable scoring from judges that I just went off him. It's not that I think he is a talentless fighter just that he was hyped to be better than he was, and that hype seemed, in my eyes, to help him win & defend world titles.
Also like I say above I'm not the biggest Froch fan, but I expect his power & his fairly strong chin to be the deciding factor. I don't think Taylor is the weaker boxer than him, I just think that he won't have enough for power to beat Froch. In my eyes, he's looked weak against guys who were basically LMWs so I think he will struggle with a big SMW like Froch. Also I feel Froch would lose to Kessler, Bute & Andrade for different reasons but I think his power is enough to see him out against Taylor.
I agree and disagree with you buddy. Carl is very exciting, has an iron chin and has punching power that will take him far. He does have flaws in his defence, but his performances have been of a fighter taking the logical route to the top. However, you are right, thus far he's beaten some good opponents, but nobody quite world class but he has been avoided. He had Inkin & Berrio lined up for fights in May last year before both pulled out on him. He has attempted to go for the best fights he can get and appears not to be afraid of a challenge so his hyped for these reasons.
While all this is true, he probably doesn't deserve a name like Taylor yet. JT has fought bigger names in his career and can probably earn better money elsewhere.
I think JT won the first Hopkins fight, I had him a couple of points up against Wright (and I was rooting for Winky). There again I thought he lost to Spinks.
I thought that not only did Winky outbox Taylor, but he was also able to bully the bigger man around the ring... despite being a natural 154 pounder.
The fact that Taylor was HBO's golden boy and judges now days seem to think that elbows are scoring areas assuming you throw a combo is what keeps fucking things for Winky
To be fair Winky was a huge 154 pounder and at that point probably more of a middleweight but it wasn't his size that bullied Taylor around it was his jab.
Look at Taylor's last fight how beautifully he was able to counterpunch for most of that fight and how he was getting in punches over Lacy's guard so easily. He was more fluid then he's ever been and would without a doubt exploit Froch's lack of defense easily.
The problem for him is he going to get to comfortable and get hit with a dumb shot like he did against Lacy in round 5 I think it was. That's the only way Froch would win is if his power was just to much Taylor and usually I don't break fights down that way but that's just how it is.
I think Taylor wins comfortable he has absolutely no reason to be scared of Froch and anyone who thinks he is scared of Froch is a bit off their rocker imo. For some reason Taylor generates this hate when there is no reason he should. He's a good fighter who is in mostly good fights the only fights of his you can say were terrible were the fights with Hopkins which was Hopkins, and then the Spinks fight which was Spinks' doing.
Other then that his fights before he was champ and then with Winky, Pavlik have all been really good and even the Ouma and Lacy fights weren't bad.
And there is no problem with boxers being in it for the money, the sport doesn't think about the fighters when they are in need of money returning the favor is how people fight for years after they should.
