Honestly, I wish these guys would have come along now. I saw Benn a couple times on TV but never had the chance to see Eubank. I recall having to wait 2-3 months for the boxing mags to report on the outcome of their fight - those were the old days! I recall being surprised to see Chris had KO'd Benn.

Benn is one of my all time favourite fighters, but I always felt both Benn & Eubank would lose to Nunn, Toney, Jones Jnr, & McCallum - but then Benn went and beat McClellan - go figure![]()
I still think McClellan would have done Ben in the first had it not been in my back yard, the East End.
Benn staged one of the most amazing comebacks I've seen but the French ref really helped him out of that first round. Allowed him to contantly duck below the waistline, wouldn't let McClellan at Benn to finish him off etc.
I too was also bought up on Benn and Eubank...didn't know any other fighters existedKinda reminds me of most of us Brits now lol
Nigel Benn had that crossover appeal while Eubank was always abit of an enigma - more known by name rather like Darius M.
Benn gained respect for his style of fighting and because he fought in the States. I always remember him having pretty good coverage and a reputation from the US boxing magazines.
Benn is timeless and priceless....in my all time top 3 favs ever.Put it this way,Ive had a 15 yr old cat from the time he was a kitten...Name is Nigel.....
Eubanks?? F!!!! em
I'm 21 now and began watching boxing when I was around 12 or 13. Before coming on this forum 3 years ago, I had never even heard of Nigel Benn or Chris Eubank.
But since hearing about them and seeing the Benn vs. Barkley fight, and some more of him on youtube, I decided to order his career set last week, and I've watched most of his fights on there and I love the guy.
Nigel Benn was an animal with one punch KO power in either hand and a warrior's heart.
Also his fight with Eubank proved that Chris could take a hell of a shot and box very well.
Crazy that Joe Calzaghe dropped Eubank within the first 10 seconds like that.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
