Im still 114-113 Berto.. He wasnt that badly hurt in the 1st, like Lennox said he didnt have his back leg behind him when Collazo stunned him...

Berto fought the wrong fight plain and simple, he elected to mix it up with a guy who he felt couldnt hurt him, tried assurting himself knowing all eyes were on him for this step up fight, except the tough game experienced Collazo wasnt going to go away and berto had to dig deep to find another gear... He was tested and he passed

He can box beautifully and can slip punches as well, but chose to make this more diffiult than it had to be, Luis is a slick southpaw and top Welter, this fight will open up some doors for Collazo, this loss will not railroad his career at all and I think it galvanizes Berto as a top guy as well

What suprised me is that Luis Collazo was mostly winning the inside game, and Andre Berto was mostly winning the outside game. I thought it would be the other way around.

Im not writing off Andre Berto i still think he's got alot of talent, and he showed alot of stamina/heart. But one major flaw he does is when he's on the inside, he squares himself up too much and he needs to work more on his inside game badly you could see he is still very green as an inside fighter.

And he needs to stick to boxing more instead of brawling, he's for certain like the modern day version of Meldrick Taylor. Let's just hope he doesn't end up like Meldrick Taylor by brawling too much.

Yep has that Taylor streak about him were he wants to brawl and respond when tagged.. Collazo being a south paw really gave Berto problems like most fighters, though Berto was scoring on the outside he didnt look comfortable just about the whole fight, if Luis had an orthodox stance Andre would have looked a hell of a lot better and landed more..

I think the Berto his team and family are smart enough to work on the adjustments...

People shouldnt be too hard on Berto for this. Collazo is a very underrated and tough guy. Remember what he pretty much ended any thought of Hatton being a welterweight, went the distance fairly easily with Mosely, and Kod Miguel Gonzalez, not a bad record. I think this more proved how good Collazo can be, not that Berto is a bad fighter.

Wow ICB we had the exact same scorecard except I traded the first and the sixth with you, I didn't think the 11th was that close at all, Berto was landing way better punches while Collazo was just landing pitty patty type shots. Berto landed more punches and a lot better quality of punches.

There are a few things that Berto really needs to work on.
    1. Not squaring up: Like somebody said, people mostly land on him when he squares up, he should realize first and foremost he is a speed guy, not a Mike Tyson type power puncher. The only knockdown in his career came because he was walking in on Rivera and he didn't have a foot behind him and he got countered. His style relies on the shoulders to block shots, and they can't when you aren't in the right position.
    2. He needs to go to the body a lot more. He could have gotten a knockdown IMO if he had stayed going to the body in the last round, about 2 minutes in he lands a right hand that knocked the wind out of Collazo, and I think if he would have thrown a few more body shots it would have been great.
    3. He needs to move more naturally/be lighter on his feet. He needs to also use more footwork to set up his offense.
    4. Feint more, he either isn't attacking or he is. Going 100% or not at all. Roy Jones Jr, Mayweather, Pacquiao all switch up their speed on different punches, they also feint a lot, with that type of speed you can feint somebody out of doing anything if its done properly.
    5. Stop winging punches from the outside: I know he is ridiculously fast, but he really needs to stop winging his right hooks from way out, he gets caught a lot because his punches are so big he can stay tight defensively.
    6. Throw more combinations: honestly who is retaliating when that type of speed and power is coming in at them? He also needs to switch it up and throw double crosses, lead with crosses more, go upstairs and downstairs in the same sequence.

    Collazo 114
    Berto 113
Round for round that was my card exactly. I had to give Collazo the first, because he controlled more of the round. Berto definately had his moments near the end of the first, but not enough to negate the work Collazo started with IMO. I have no problem with cards that would be close either way. A lot of rounds were close.

Overall I think we are getting too caught up in the details this was a great fight, I really hope that there's a rematch.

Collazo only controlled Berto in part of round six, while Berto landed more harder punches I don't see how that round can be scored against him...
