The first thing that came to my mind thinking of a hyped UK weak chinned fighter with a KO loss taking on a smaller older fighter.....

    Pele Reid Vs Orlin Norris

Norris won via KO in the first as will Barrera

yep if the smaller Gomez and Limond could rock him badly, Barrera will spank him good!

You can also add JMM beating Juan Diaz soon to the list.
JMM might be slightly taller but he's def. smaller in body.

Yeah I remember that 1. Pele acted very strangely when he got hit he gets Danny Williams legs. Pele was losing focus too cuz he started saeeing his new bird and after that he was bringing his baby to the gym. He never had the resistance to reach domestic level. I honestly think this might be a 1 rounder too which may surprise some people.

TAETH - Pavlik was moving up two divisions to fight Hopkins and Toney didnt beat Peter so those two dont really count IMO.

Pavlik was still bigger, Hopkins stayed at middleweight until he was 40, Pavlik won't be able to that because his body is bigger, he is taller by a bit, and broader.

As far as height goes yes, Pav is taller but as far as body frame Hopkins is def. bigger. also Pavlik moved up in weight. In these cases the smaller guy is moving up.

Actually the thread is a bit misleading. I mean I guess in such a case as this you automatically think of world title bouts and maybe it doesn't happen much at that level.

But this fight is a 3 weight world champ, a boxing legend, one of the greatest featherweights of all time and still only 34 fighting a prospect with a known weak chin who was KO'd in 1 round just two fights ago and who has never faced anyone remotely world class.

Barrera has to be favourite in this fight imo, for Khan to beat Barrera would be a massive upset. He got destroyed by Breidas Prescott, dropped and rocked by Michael Gomez and dropped by Willie Limond.

It really doesn't bode well for Khan imo, especially as there's been no real hint of a Barrera decline. He lost a close and controversial decision to J M Marquez, the world's second best fighter, and floored him and then lost a competitive 12 rounder to the world's best fighter.

This is no Eric Morales or Roy Jones Jr, he's still very very very dangerous, and still only 34 remember.

Yes he's slowed slightly, and yes he's smaller but he's still WAY better competition than Amir has ever faced before and for me it's hard to see how Amir can win this, he'll have to box a perfect fight in my opinion, something that he has never done before up to now.

You have to fancy Barrera in this one I think, even though I'll be cheering and rooting for young Amir, I think he's one gutsy kid for taking this challenge after such a devastating KO loss.

Hopkins was not the smaller man in either of thaose fights. He looked strong as f@ck. I remember how surprised I was when he fought Tarver he looked like he could have fought at that weight for years, hell he could have gone up to light heavyweight in the late 90s early 2000s

    Werent they both 27?

Saying that Barrera did move up to beat the younger Morales at featherweight and he did it again at superfeatherweight.
