i believe that calzaghe is unbeatable when hes on top of his game.e.g work rate, awkward style, punch output and granite chin

Granite chins don't get put down or hurt several times like he was against Kessler and Hopkins. He definitely is hard to beat, but not unbeatable. Against Dawson he would finally be facing guy with a good output of his own, a faster guy who also likes to stamp his dominance on a fight. The days of Roy or Hopkins stamping their dominance on fights was long over, Chad will take Joe's punches and punch back, and do excellent work to the body. I think its close to a toss up fight.
of course chad could win, he is in his prime, at the top of his game and has a lot of talent.
But as long as Calzaghe could keep coming at him all night taking him out of his zone, i think calzaghe would win. Could be close at this point though.
I think Dawson could win, but Calzaghe has proved me wrong before! This would be a great fight & I'd love to see it before Calzaghe retired.

Title: Can Chad Dawson beat Joe Calzaghe?
Of course he can. Anyone on a given night can beat Joe.
But thus far 46 have tried and 46 have failed.
BCD does A LOT of things that would help make the fight easy for Joe to win. Sitting on the ropes absorbing punches and taking breaks and rounds off can and will only benifit Joe and give him momentum not only of the crowd but the judges.
Joes maturity and more experience would be also a factor. On the other hand you have BCD who can show at times maturity and then turn around and let himself get caught with silly shots.
I don't want to start with the "IFs" and the "Buts" so I wont.
BCDs a talented kid, have followed his career since early on I've seen him turn into what he's become. I think technically he's superior then Joe and he's more in tune as far as combinations with power go.
I would love to see it happened that's for sure...
If I had to pick a winner I'd def. side with my boy BCD. I know the kids got the tools to beat him but his mentality is frustrating to me, I hope only with time he changes that.
Ooooh, how I wish to see this happen, but I doubt Joe will ever take such a risky fight !
He knows he could lose in this one.![]()
As of Joe would have the stones to take this fight. I would favor Dawson. Calzaghe has never faced anybody with the talent, skill, and size of Dawson. I can see Dawson putting Joe down several times in the fight.
Dawson put on the earmuffs to rope a dope Tarver. Unlike Calzaghe, Tarver is actually a dangerous puncher and Chad needed to be sure he didn't get caught with Tarver's good shot.
Joe's workrate would keep the fight close, but Dawson would hit Joe with many, many meaningful punches. Whereas Hopkins was throwing one at a time, Dawson would be returning fire with HARD combinations. Calzaghe nearly lost to 'Nard with Hopkins throwing one punch at a time. With Dawson answering with fast, hard, accurate combos, Joe would be in trouble.
Joes seen it all before and id also bet that Kessler is a bigger puncher than Dawson, hes certainly a bigger puncher at super middle than Dawson is at light heavy and Joe took his shots fine.
Even if that is true, which I don't think it is, Dawson has far better handspeed and better variety of punches. He hits hard enough to hurt Adamek, who is a pretty tough customer, and Dawson is certain to be able to hit Calzaghe much more often and more cleanly than Kessler because of speed and combination punching.
I'm sure at some point you've actually made a valid point about a Calzaghe matchup. Not this time.
