Mosley is the man.
Mosley is the man.
I think Shane can beat Cotto if they were to rematch. The first fight was real close and Cotto barley edged it. But Shanes last two fights have ended by ko so its hard for me to bet against Shane since hes on a roll. I dont know we will just have to see how Cotto does against Jennings but as of now im rolling with SSM.
And the new king of the welterweight division Sugar Shane Mosley!!!!!!!!!!
Sugar Shane Mosley is the GRANDPA !!!
yeah man. I have to agree. Shane is the king of 147. Amazing performance. Dude was throwing some serious leather in there tonight. Veins popping out his neck and forehead and everything.
It was a brilliant showing. I actually dont think Mosley was that bad against Mayorga. I think a lot of people underestimate Mayorga, he's a tough awkward fighter. The Cotto fight was also very, very close. So Mosley hadnt slipped all that much IMO.
But he absolutely destroyed Margarito. No room for any doubts there. And it sets up a Cotto rematch brilliantly. I would much rather see that than Cotto:Margarito 2. Margarito doesnt deserve another pay day so quickly, especially if this hand wrap situation is confirmed.![]()
Of GBP's grandpas (B-Hop, Hoya, Mosley, JMM), Mosley is it... He's the best grandpa in there fighting like close to prime skills and abilities...
.
For those who say it was vintage Mosely, I say they are wrong. Mosely was better tonight than he has been in the past. He threw more and was much more aggressive until he softened Margie up (which he did unlike anyone I've ever seen.) Good job Shane!
I think this fight was more about Margarito being overrated than Mosley being that great, I think he fought the right fight, and I give him credit for that, but he won't beat Cotto, I think even though their fight was pretty close Cotto was clearly in control for most of the fight, and if it wasn't for his cut lip I think it would have been more one sided. Cotto has speed where Margarito has none, he has really punching power, and he lands his punches cleanly where Margarito could only land glancing blows. Cotto can catch Mosley because Mosley isn't the greatest defensive fighter. Once again that was how Cotto should have fought Margarito, thats how Holyfield fought Tyson.
Mosley looked just as good against Collazo, and look how his fight with Cotto turned out.
Yes and no. You're right about his jab. I can't remember the last time I saw Mosley use his jab that effectively. It was one of the huge factors tonight. On the other hand. Shane pummeling Tony with right hands, going upstairs and downstairs, and snapping off vicious hooks is vintage Mosley. He brawled in spots (vintage Mosley) and used his feet and clinches to control distance (also vintage Mosley.)
To all those who said Cotto hits harder than Shane...how you like them apples?
I LOVED the game plan. Countering beautifully when he saw the opportunity, slipping and rolling punches, and closing the distance so Margo couldn't get the leverage he needs to punch with power. Mosley can throw some hard power shots in short range!!
Just cause people are bringing it up, I gave Mosley the nod in his fight with Cotto. I thought it was def a close fight, maybe even a draw. But Mosley came on strong in the last half of the fight and I felt he did enough to take it to the champion (Cotto at the time). IMO, if you choose whether to start strong or finish strong, the guy who can do it during the championship rounds gets more credit. I haven't seen the fight a second time, but if I remember correctly, I had Shane winning a close fight...
