Re: ~ SSM vs. Margartio ~ Let's talk here!
Well, I have to say, as a Margarito fan, I was absolutely stunned speechless last night. I had a suspicion that Shane might pull a decision, but never did I imagine this outcome. Hats off the Shane, that was a performance of a lifetime. Let's be fair though, to those saying that Margarito's chin was exposed, give me a break, he still showed that chin in eating huge shots for 8 rounds, it just finally caught up with him. No one is invincible, but I bet any other fighter would have been out of there long before that. I also find it funny how so many jumped on Tony's bandwagon after the cotto fight, now that he lost, it's all "he never was shit."
I was a Tony fan before this, and remain one now, despite my disappointment.
As for the handwraps thing, this is indeed troubling and if true, I have indeed lost some respect. I just have to say though to those questioning his other wins, of course this brings him into doubt but let's put it in perspective. At least in theory, don't they have someone checking the fighters wraps before EVERY fight? If so, i find it hard to believe that he could get away with this on a regular basis. I see no reason to suggest that this was a factor in the Cotto fight either. Let's face it, Cotto doesn't have the best chin in the world, and Tony hit him with a lot of shots, much more than he did Mosley, so I see no reason to suspect that anything other than Tony's natural punches beat Cotto. It could be, and I'm not defending the move, that margarito tried it against Shane because he knows that Shane has such a good chin. of course this doesn't make it right, but there is a certain logic to it.
