I can't think of a fighter with more undeserved hype though, the Reebok sponsorship and PPV events, surely his career thus far should not merit such things. Hatton has truely earned his PPV status through attrition, I'm not a fan, but he has fought his way to where he is. You don't see Andre Ward headlining PPV events.
I agree.. it's very annoying that Khan has NOT even proven himself to be the best lightweight in the UK.

But you have to bear in mind that Britain is tiny compared to the US.. so obviously potential world stars are far more infrequent.

If Andre Ward was British he'd be in Khan's boat.. you could bet your house on that
i never liked andre ward, i hate it when a young fighter is being compared to a great so soon into their career.

fans should stop blaming fighters for their own hype. It wasnt like Andre Ward went 'I want to be touted as the next best thing since sliced bread"

It's not a fighter's fault how they are hyped, I've never heard in any interviews Andre Ward saying he is the greatest or the second coming. Hate the hypers not the fighter. When it comes to people like Gerry Cooney history says "it's not Cooney's fault how he was hyped" all in hindsight. But now in the present fighters get hated just because they do get hyped before proving anything. In my opinion it makes no sense to hype someone thats already there, because they don't need hype then. Hype is there for preperation and to stir the pot. So don't hate the player hate the game.
