i love Firefox but when it is not available on a PC that's the only time when I am using other browsers. I like also the speed of Chrome but it still lack some elements that I can only find in FF.

Anyone else notice that youtube videos are a little herky jerky in Firefox?
Also I have notice that Firefox doesn't seem to get bogged down on some facebook pages like Internet Explorer does.
I'm using Windows 2000, don't know if that makes a difference.

I was a big IE user but just upgraded to IE8 and althpough it has some funky new features it is totally wank for some things.... so i'm using firefox alot more over the last week and liking some of the stuff it does![]()

I like the way Firefox has tabbed browser sessions within a single frame. There also seems to be an automated spellchecker in Firefox, which is kinda nice. I prefer the way IE deals with configuration of security and privacy options.
On the whole, IE seems noticeably faster, but Firefox is more stable. One thing I do notice is that Firefox is a noticeably slower for somethings, such as posting and replying here in the forum. I actually have to sit there and watch the little icons on the message toolbar fill in, ditto for the smilies on the right. Have you noticed this Saddo?

I use IE until it gives me problems, then I go over to FF. The only reason I still use IE is habit, I like FF much better.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I decided to give Google Chrome a testdrive. What a sad joke of an application it is. It probably works fine, and it's faster than greased lightning, but it's soooo non-intuitive. The user interface is absolute shit. Pure garbage. Why they did things that way is beyond me. I mean, whoever heard of an application without a file menu? Took me ages to figure out how to load an html file from my hard drive.
And what's this horsehit about the install? Click on the download button and it automatically downloads, installs, imports all your favorites from IE without giving the user any options? Sorry, but I like to separate the install from the download, none of this automatic shit for me.
In short, my reaction is that it has potential, but the user interface is a complete turnoff. I wouldn't recommend it to my enemies, though I might suggest it to ICB if he ever shows up.
over and out. I have an application to uninstall.

haven't had one that I know of. I pay a lot of attention to things like antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc. And I tend to browse any questionable sites, especially porn sites, I don't touch em. And I usually wipe clean and reinstall every year or two. I Think Windows 2000Pro is pretty solid as O/S go. But it lacks some of the conveniences of Windows XP, particularly in the area of image management, videos, etc. And I can't run the newest versions of IE and messenger, but that doesn't worry me much. Windows 2000 is still supported at Windows Update with new security patches etc. Do you know of any such info on weaknesses of Win2000 that I should concern myself with ?
Thx

I used to notice that with firefox. it happens when the bookmarks toolbar up above fills up with bookmarks. If it gets to the point where it shows an arrow at the end to show more, youtube videos will be jumpy. Delete some so they only fill the page or less, and the jumping will stop.

hmm, can't say that I had a lot of bookmarks in Firefox, in fact I had only a few. However, since I made that post I have upgraded to Windows XP from Windows 2000. Because I couldn't get wireless networking to work under Win2000. And also a newer version if IE. Now the problem does not seem as noticable. Actually, I think with XP that youtube performance in Firefox might be a little better, and a little worse with IE. Probably because as usual with Microsoft, new versions of anything are more resource intensive, whereas it is the opposite with their competitors.
Unfortunately. Once I upgraded to XP, I experience a lot of video corruption with Firefox. Especially on Saddo's. I have an NVidia Riva TNT2 series video card that came with my Dell PIII quite a few years ago. The video corruption only happens with Firefox, go figure. I like Firefox, so eventually I will try and get to the bottom of this, but damn I am getting tired of dicking around with my PC.
However, in spite of the video corruption, Firefox still handles Facebook pages better than Internet Explorer. sigh....![]()
