haven't had one that I know of. I pay a lot of attention to things like antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc. And I tend to browse any questionable sites, especially porn sites, I don't touch em. And I usually wipe clean and reinstall every year or two. I Think Windows 2000Pro is pretty solid as O/S go. But it lacks some of the conveniences of Windows XP, particularly in the area of image management, videos, etc. And I can't run the newest versions of IE and messenger, but that doesn't worry me much. Windows 2000 is still supported at Windows Update with new security patches etc. Do you know of any such info on weaknesses of Win2000 that I should concern myself with ?
Thx
sorry CGM, I tried to respond to this post once with a long elaborate post, and hit a wrong button and lost it, so...got frustrated and never came back.
Short of it, no. Use to use 2000 and had a lot of vulnurability issues, so knew them then but not up to speed any more, and now use both XP and Vista, and still travel the same websites largely, with the same protection...and don't have any probs for the most part. You are likely safer then I am in where you go tho, so that could be a big diff.
I use Firefox and sometimes IE.
I'm becoming more computer literate than I used to be, and I'm wary of intruders. The old computer met a sorry end, so I'm much more careful with this one.
Good plan. It seems to me that with modern day viruses and trojans, firewall and antivirus and anti spyware only gets you so far. It really is best to avoid questionable websites, stick with reputable sites as much as possible. I know some serious users who have two computers, one for messing around on the web, and the other for serious stuff.
I use Fire Explorer and Internet Fox.
i commonly use chrome. i think its simple interface is ideal for not-so-computer-literate-persons like myself. i also have firefox in my computer but i seldom use it since it takes years before i can open an internet site
