Ok, I've read this too many time now. The premise is extra strips of gauze, because it is softer that tape, is used to protect the knuckles. The cheat is, plaster is used instead of the gauze. Tape is used to wrap the hands. No one will notice the gauze is actually plaster because the material "looks" very similar. You have to touch it to deturmine is is different. Tape is covering the gauze/plaster and is wrapped tightly around the hands and is hard to the touch and will not be easily detected without applying pressure to the knuckles. You don't shake a guy by his knuckles. So no worries on Margrarito's part.

Now some of you might say it needs water. Sweat is the substitute. It might not be enough depending on the sweat of the individual. I recall reading Richardson mentioned it was wet. If no one is watching you get wrapped then you can wet it when it is applied. If someone is watching you get your hands wrapped sweat will just have to do.

I saw an interview with Shane Mosley today and he said that he saw the hand wraps that are in question and he believes that the reason Margarito's corner put something extra into the wrap was to protect Tonys hands as he was having problems with them. Mosley also said Margarito should not be blamed for the hand wrap issue as things like hand wrapping are left for his corner to take care of and all a fighter wants to do is concentrate on the fight ahead and not what his corner are doing with his wraps. Therefore the corner should be punished not the fighter.

Said it before and I will say it again Shane is a very classey guy, many other fighters in this situation would have used the wraps issue to make the other fighter look like a liar and a cheat but not Mosley.

How can you not love a classy guy like Sugar Shane??

I like Shane a lot, was real happy when he won, and do think he's a classy guy but if you want to be cynical I guess you could say he doesn't want to have the steroid thing thrown back in his face, maybe that has nothing to do with it, I don't know.

I've been out of the loop, just checked back up on this, here's an article: HBO: Boxing: WCB: Margarito vs. Mosley: THE TALE OF THE TAPING Margarito's peoples excuse is sketchy to me, and I also think the idea that he didn't know, or just started using them that particular fight are both questionable. Not saying its out of the question I guess, but I'm definitely leaning in one direction, we will see I guess.

And about Margarito's power, he never really had many early or spectacular knockouts cause he's not a crisp puncher, he's not going to catch you with some thing huge that you didn't see because he's just that quick. That and he doesn't land as many clean shots as some other guys. But he is a powerful guy, and from fighters reactions his punches always seemed to "hurt" if that makes sense, he was a thudding puncher who had a lot behind his shots.

Did that have anything to do with handwraps, I don't know.

Shane also said he saw both wraps first hand and at the time it looked soft and just regular......someone needs to get him a copy of the script ?Mosley is class, always has been, and another reason he probally isn't playing pile on Tony is that he's thinking...."Hey,remember ME.I won the fight"
