I like how people make fun of Klitschko when up until now has basically foughten everybody excluding his brother that the fans have wanted. People wanted him to fight Byrd again, he did, people wanted him to fight Peter, he did, then Ibragimov, he did. Rematch with Brewster, he did it. Then Povetchkin, and he was going to until the russian pulled out. Now people want him to fight Haye, and considering places like espn haven't announced the fight off its still likely to happen.
Wlad is doing his best to keep the HW division exciting by taking big fights that people want to see. I like Haye, in the ring, as well and it would be great for the division if he won, but if anyone is going to be scared in this matchup it should be David.
I like how if the fight doesn't happen it's automatically because of Klitschko and not Haye. Between the two who doesn't belong in a heavyweight championship bout?
Oops
Toney was 100x the fighter Haye is, but at 40 years old and after 80+ fights Haye should beat him fairly easily. Haye wont gain much by beating him at this point though imo. He has a lot more to lose..
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
fans of the sport are the real losers in this if Wlad has indeed chickened out of a fight.
Haye told setanta last thursday that it was pretty much in wlads camp now and that if any fight was to be made it would have to be done by this weekend otherwise he would go looking elsewhere.
I have a lot of time and respect for Wladimir Klitschko - just hope to god he doesnt sell everyone who`s other had faith in him short and head for another easy pay day.
one dangerous horrible bloke
Yep because EVERYONE wants to see Wlad vs a guy who was able to KO Monte Barrett......that also describes Cliff Couser by the way
In the end Wlad is going to fight the guy who he's going to make the most money off of.....I think Cris Arreola is the better option right now for a fight in America.
David Haye needs to have more fights at heavyweight and vs better guys than Monte Barrett and James Toney....talk about your soft scheduling
The fight is going to happen, apparently at the O2 arena. Emanuel Steward says he was phoned by Frankenstein Junior last night and asked what size the ring should be. So it sounds like the contract is almost done.
Yes Lyle... because we all know that Haye's professional Career started when he fought Monte Barrett.
I'm not even going to bother listing the amount of title holders (plenty of them not even close to being undisputed Champion...) who have went on to immediately secure title fights in higher weight classes.
You can say what you want about the Cruiser Weight Division but the Heavyweight division isn't exactly much better... What Haye has done at cruiser Division deserves a lot more respect than what you Klit nut huggers are prepared to give him.
We boxing fans (and I include myself) are an impatient bunch. If Haye is a bonafide good HW, a match with Wlad will materialize soon enough. If Haye hits a bump in the road along the way, then it wasn't meant to be. Personally, I'm rooting for a Wlad-Haye matchup somewhere down the road, if not now.
Thats an ignorant thing to say. Wlad hadnt won a title when he fought Purrity, and when he fought Sanders he was only WBO champ. Completely different circumstances. Now Klit is undisputed champ with 7 defenses.
If he doesnt fight Haye but fights Arreola or another top HW i'd be happy with that. Haye can then just force him to fight by winning more fights. I think Haye deserves a shot.
Hows he undisputed? Vitali and the freak have two major belts and Wlad has the other one (I still don't regard WBO yet) so to me he is far from undisputed, but if you talk about the best i'd say Vitali is head and shoulders above Wlad and had the fight between him and Haye materialised I think Haye would probably have lost, but as it's Wlad that looks more likely I think that Haye will win a version of the HW championship and if he can let Vitali age a bit more he'll soon have the chance to take him out too as he'll be too old.
