fans of the sport are the real losers in this if Wlad has indeed chickened out of a fight.
Haye told setanta last thursday that it was pretty much in wlads camp now and that if any fight was to be made it would have to be done by this weekend otherwise he would go looking elsewhere.
I have a lot of time and respect for Wladimir Klitschko - just hope to god he doesnt sell everyone who`s other had faith in him short and head for another easy pay day.
one dangerous horrible bloke
Yep because EVERYONE wants to see Wlad vs a guy who was able to KO Monte Barrett......that also describes Cliff Couser by the way
In the end Wlad is going to fight the guy who he's going to make the most money off of.....I think Cris Arreola is the better option right now for a fight in America.
David Haye needs to have more fights at heavyweight and vs better guys than Monte Barrett and James Toney....talk about your soft scheduling
The fight is going to happen, apparently at the O2 arena. Emanuel Steward says he was phoned by Frankenstein Junior last night and asked what size the ring should be. So it sounds like the contract is almost done.
Yes Lyle... because we all know that Haye's professional Career started when he fought Monte Barrett.
I'm not even going to bother listing the amount of title holders (plenty of them not even close to being undisputed Champion...) who have went on to immediately secure title fights in higher weight classes.
You can say what you want about the Cruiser Weight Division but the Heavyweight division isn't exactly much better... What Haye has done at cruiser Division deserves a lot more respect than what you Klit nut huggers are prepared to give him.
We boxing fans (and I include myself) are an impatient bunch. If Haye is a bonafide good HW, a match with Wlad will materialize soon enough. If Haye hits a bump in the road along the way, then it wasn't meant to be. Personally, I'm rooting for a Wlad-Haye matchup somewhere down the road, if not now.
I hope people aren't taking Haye's word as bond. He could be posturing to get more money than Klitschko wants to agree to. Look at it this way: you and I agree to a fight in principal. We expect 20 mil in ticket sales and I say I want 11. While we're still negotiating I announce to the public that the deal is done and it's just a matter of you agreeing to it when you know there's more to it than that. You think you deserve 12 because you're the champ and I'm some upstart, but since I went and blabbed to the public I'm making you out to be a pussy if you don't agree to the agreement that's 'already in your hands'. I think Haye is trying to put the squeeze on Klitschko. Wlad hasn't had reason to chicken out of any fight and I doubt a guy who just arrived at HW has him quaking in his boots.
