Funeka did not get robbed. Getting dropped in the championship rounds and struggling to the end ain't exactly the best way to win the titles

Martinnez got screwed not just by the decision but by how the whole fight went...he cuts cintron gets ruled a headbutt, cintron decides to get punched in the back of the head martinez gets a point deducted, just bogus.
Along the lines of KillerSheep here
Martinez robbed of a TKO.Cintron actually willingly took a knee after getting cracked and tried to polatic the ref
Martinez robbed of a point
Martinez robbed of a deserved descision...just bent over by the judges, pants around ankles and not a thing he could do about it.
The public robbed because we're expected to buy that Cintron is still viable...and willing to lay it all out there. He'll get another huge fight.
Campbell vs. Funeka no robbery.Had 114-112 Nate with Funeka putting out a quality effort, sweeping middle rounds and Nate headed to 140.Like Campbell alot but I see the writing on the wall,Hope he goes out on top.
Campbell stopped fighting after the first knockdown and let Funeka into the fight. He didn't do anything right but he was in the fight and I thought it was pretty close, close enough for him to lose or win but a draw? Martinez was robbed clearly of a K.O. even if by the smallest margin Cintron made it up before ten, the referee waved his hands and then realized his so called error after Martinez was in mindset on his way home. I can just visualize the judges and the referee going back to their hotel rooms guided by a seeing eye dog.
Martinez was clearly robbed. Funeka was a far closer call, it was a brave effort and a draw would have been okay with me. The judging was off in both fights. As usual.![]()
But for all his heart i just dont believe nate has the legs for it anymore.
Showed in spurts that when he can turn on he is in a different league to guys like funeka.
But you cant completely shut off for 6-7 successive rounds, do nothing other than get outworked and hope to take a decision. I have no qualms with those that scored it for nate as has already been mentioned if you get knocked down twice in a fight and it goes to the scorecards you have to expect the worst.
But where martinez/cintron is concerned....daylight robbery and if the boxing world gets its knickers in a twist over valuev/holyfield, surely this decision deserves to be analysed?

IMO i think that Cintron don't have anything to get in (154) pnds. , looked very confused , probably that method in changing different trainers isn't working , to me in the fight he didn't demonstrated more skill of boxing , how to fight a southpaw , seems to have less power on his punches , etc..... i really didn't like how he looks on that fight , and now he commented that will comes down to WW division again to face to Cotto probably in June 13 of this year , Does he know what he really want ? , Sergio Martinez really demonstrated a good fight , he won that fight.....
Although Funeka and Nate Campbell they made a really tremendous fight , but IMO Campbell won the fight , he gave the most power punches and fought like a really Champion , he really need to fix that problem with making Weight , that did cost him his Belts............
This is my similar feeling. I thought the knockdowns are what really pulled Nate through. Nate was sure the more busted up of the two.
Funeka is a tall lanky fighter. I thought it was a pretty exciting fight and Lennox didn't annoy me as much as usual. Lederman was scoring pretty well too (must have heard everyones criticism).

You know, I keep hearing Cintron as the likely opponent for Cotto, I have to wonder why in gods name Arum would make that match? Cintron has looked awful in his last three fights, and then always cries like a bitch about things not going his way. There are much more deserving guys. Mosely, of course, but he doesn't want to fight in NY. Hell, even within Arum's stable you have Clottey who is long overdue for a serious payday, and who would likely make a more entertaining fight. Why would Arum give Cintron an undeserved crack and leave his own guy out in the cold? The only reason I can think of is he wants to match Cotto easier for a little while to build his rep back up after the Margarito fight.
funeka lost the last two rounds, the championship rounds. he got dropped in the 11th and did absolutely anything in the 12th. if they gave it a draw, everybody could have been happier but i think campbell outworked funeka in the last two rounds while dropping him twice during the fight. on the other hand, the martinez cintron fight was a robbery in broad daylight. and you could hear how dumb cintron is in the end. he did a stupid victory dance and when the draw was announced he kept mumbling about "man, everybody know i won that fight" . i think cintron lost his mind after the margarito fight.

Would be the sort of annoying fight you just know cintron would raise his game and run it close and come out a lot better off for a battling defeat rather than the farcical draw he got giftwrapped the other night.
Cintrons the kind of fighter who could potentially blow you out in 4/5 but if you box him clever and dont fall for his pretty obvious fightplan you`ll always get the decision over!!
