Gonna pin this one up for those who will be here watching...
Won't be online tonight as don't want to find out the result and will download the fights tomorrow. If ICB sees this, please hook me up with a PM tomorrow buddy. All the rep I can give if you do.
As for tonights fights...
Nate Campbell vs. Ali Funeka
Thinking about this one over the last few weeks and to me, it seemed as if Nate was looking at this as a fight he just wanted to get out of the way so he could go after the bigger paydays. Funeka looks decent though, as we saw in his last fight. Raheem is no mug, and Funeka made him look poor. Nate couldn't really be looking past a fighter who is so hungry to make a name for himself and who has power in both hands. We know now he loses his belts no matter what, but Nate can blow hot and cold and I don't think he'll be up for it after last nights disappointment, so tonight I fancy the upset and I think Funeka will take the belts home.
Sergio Martinez vs. Kermit Cintron
I'm going with Martinez by KO in about 7. He's more comfortable at the weight and he's on a roll. Think he'll need to weather the early storm from Cintron, who I think will take the early rounds, then come on and dishearten Cintron with his own poerful shots.
Alfredo Angulo vs. Cosme Rivera
Angulo may get some rounds tonight. Difficult for him having 2 changes of opponent so close to fight time, especially when he was originally trying to prepare for a slugger like Mayorga. I see this as a decent learning fight that Angulo will use to get some rounds in the bank before dispatching Rivera in 6.
No goody goodies this time Mick? Tired of freeloaders not bringing anything?
cintron ko
angulo ud
dont know about campell and funeka
funeka is a complete mystery to me but saw his ko on raheem brutal
and he is undeafeated at 135
dont if campell is burned out or maybe mentally drained cause he might not have his bigh fights cause of not makin weight but cant wait to see
right now i chose funeka even though i have never seen him fight
he has alot of momentum
anyone got any idea wen dis starts UK time?
Im thinkin I may go sleep & wake up for it.
I'm thinking Nate UD, Cintron KO & Angulo easy KO
Trying to piece this one back together, with Angulo having multiple opponents and Nates loss of belts on the scale.Something tells me he made a concious call and did not want to drain down too badly, put belts secondary?
Should still be good card.Martinez vs.Cintron might turn out to be a show stealer.Angulo should get some good work but the longer it goes,Stubborn Riveras chances to make him look bad increase.Angulo is still very young in career and needs to forget all of the drama, get down to buisness tonight.Im hoping Campbell has not fallen into one of his 'night & day' mind sets,or looking past Funeka.
Campbell will stop Funeka in 5 or 6. Hes just the better quality fighter and Funeka throws a lot of slow jabs and brings them back low which is perfect for Nate to land his overhand right that he loves so much.
Serigio Martinez is a better fighter than Cintron in terms of skill, but Cintron is coming in this fight strong. I think hell fade though and Sergio will win a UD down the stretch.
Angulo is a tough fighter and Rivera is solid and live opponent. I think Rivera will land some good punches in the first couple of rounds, but Angulo will land some better ones in the 3rd or 4th and stop him.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Is Serigio Martinez the guy that looks so awesome on HBO BAD a little while back? If so, I think he'll outbox Cintron. Cintron stands too straight up and doesn't move his head. I think he will be right there for Martinez to hit and move on.
Anybody else notice their similar outcomes against their one common opponent?
I have a feeling that Cintron is going to step up big. For all we know, Tony had plaster hands when he blew out Cintron, and Cintron has handled everybody else. Martinez looked great against Bunema, but Cintron is in a different talent level from Bunema.
Martinez had a nice little run, but I think Cintron will get to him. I'm looking for a stoppage about 8 or 9.
I'm looking forward to this card immensely, all 3 fights should be interesting.
The Campbell Funeka fight is a pick em for. Campbell looked senstaional beating Diaz last year but he was out in the wilderness before then and comes in well overweight this time. Funeka KO'd Raheem and that must give him confidence going into this.
50/50 fight imo could go either way.
Martinez and Cintron should be a great matchup, looking forward to this one. I'd like to see Cintron cause an upset and KO Martinez. He's a much maligned fighter who everyone seems to love to hate and I'm not really sure why. Plus Kellerman and Lampley were chomping on Martinez's nutsacks last time out and proclaiming him one of boxings elite so I'd like to see there ridiculous hyperbole exposed.
The Angulo Riveria fight should be fun. Cosme definitely beat Julio imo and he floored Andre Berto so he's no mug. I really can't wait to see how this goes down and if Angulo can get him out more impressively than Berto did.
Angulo by late stoppage.
Martinez by UD. I just think he is too fast for Cintron, and Cintron will have a hard time hitting him, because he is pretty elusive.
Not sure on the Campbell fight, because I don't know how the weight issue will mess with him. But I'll still take Campbell by UD.
Knowing that Nate is not 100%, Funeka will take it by decision.
Hbo lists the fights at 10.. does that mean that just Funeka/Cambell is televised, or is Cintron being televised too?
