Boxing seems more dangerous than MMA as there has yet to be a fighter who has died in an MMA match and I can't even begin to count how many fighters have died or have come close to dying in the ring. Maybe the gloves should be stripped down to the MMA style glove

This way we have no more plaster gate and less deaths.

And also we would have no need for them 12 round fights.

The only thing that concerns me is the thumb. Sugar Ray Leonard would never fight later in his career with these things. As he was one of the main reasons boxing gloves thumbs were sewed together. He was no alone and I dont think he was the first to complain about the thumb and the glove issue.

yea give guys who unlike MMA fighters just focus on punching gloves that are lighter, have less padding, and they can make a tighter clenched fist with, and i'm sure it'll cause less severe injuries or deaths , dude MMA has LESS deaths than boxing for 2 big reasons, it very much so is a new sport, and just the combination of submissions, and other variants in the fight plus the fight only being 15 minutes if it's non title and 25 if its a championship fight have a lot more to do with it than the gloves

Boxing gloves makes a punch impact less and it's the accumulation of these punches that contributes to this fatal injuries. While in MMA, usually when a fighter gets KD (mostly flash KD's) expect the referee to quickly jump between them as the guy on top connects a couple of more blows. there isn't really much 'accumulation' in MMA.

The only thing now that is more dangerous is that athletes are much better athletes now then the past. Every other precaution is made so that the sport is much safer now.

agreed. Fights my first appear more brutal and more street fight like but they do get stopped much more quickly than boxing. Also keep in mind the whole body is a target and not just the head and torso.
