Guillermo Rigondeaux has defected, turrning pro

Have you watched Rau'Shee Warren who was a world champion, and got screwed in his first fight of the tournament? He's extremely fast, very good technically, and could cause anybody problems. Rigondeaux went on to stop Ali Aliyev to win that tournament. Not only that but he went on to win every fight from that point until his amateur career ended which was 14 fights later. The fact is at the amateurs every can have a bad night, its not like the pros where you prepare for one fighter for 2-3 months. Which IMO makes him all the better because, he has had to fight multiple opponents with multiple styles and still finds a way to almost ALWAYS win. Even Leonard said being a pro was a lot easier than being an amateur because you didn't get breaks between fights, you fought hurt a lot, and that consistency was much more difficult. He lost to guys liek Ronnie Shields as an amateur.

Rigondeaux has always been a drinker and a smoker, when did that stop Monzon, or Duran, or JCC anywhere near their prime?

10 times better is a figure of speech dumbass, it doesn't mean if you made Gamboa 10 times faster, 10 times stronger, 10 times harder of a hitter that Rigondeaux would beat him, it means he is significantly better. Anybody who watched the amateurs at all would know that. He is better than Gamboa in every respect, he hits harder, he's faster, he's harder to hit.

Back when Leonard was an amateur there was still actually a little similarity to the pro's. That ain't the case any more. Any idiot can see that. The amateur don't prepare you for the pro's any more like they use to. It's just about a different sport. Success in the amateurs still carries a little weight. But only a little. Your linking the 2 sports as if they were one. Rigondeaux is great amateur boxer. One of the best ever. But that's amateur boxer. With big gloves. Head gear. And only going 3 rounds. In your confused mind he's already a great pro. Despite never facing pro power. Never fighting without head gear. And never going more than 3 rounds.

If the amateurs didn't help with being a pro then name one gold medal champion who went pro since the rule changes that has had a losing record. It isn't like trying to stick a boxer into an MMA fighter. It still follows the same pattern. Sure Rigondeaux might have a weak chin, and that could be his downfall, but unless he is way worse than he use to be, or he has a china glass chin, he will be a worldchampion he is way too gifted in way too many ways not to be. Besides I am not a pro, and I've foughten without head gear on, against people wearing pro gloves, do you honestly believe these growing up in cuba haven't fought without head gear on before?

Also name a world champion cuban that hasn't done relatively well in the pro ranks. Rigondeaux is the best of them all, why would he do worse than those before him?

I have some Rigondeaux fights. I seen enough of him to know he's very talented and possess great skills. I expect him to be champion. I also seen enough of him to know he will not destroy Rafael Marquez or Israel Vazquez. I seen enough of him to know he's not 10 times better than Gamboa or Lara. I also seen enough amateur and pro Boxing to know greatness in one doesn't translate into greatness in the other one.

Gamboas always been busy though. Guillermo hasnt fought in two years. That are a lot of unknown factors, thats all im saying. I hope he does well cause he is an amazing talent. The pros is a lot different though so we will see how he adapts....On another note Ahmet Oner is really becoming a kingpin in the sport. He wastes no time signing these guys. He must be public enemy #1 to the Cuban govt.
