You should ask Vitali the same question. I agree a Maskaev fight wouldn't be the best but didnt Vitali benefit from this when he fought Sam Peter? And people were actually behind it, so Vitali says it isnt right this time, and people agree?

No offense but Vitali should be asking himself how he got that title shot in the first place.

Maskaev pointed this out in a recent press release, that when he was champion he had two back to back mandatories: Peter and Klitschko, however, he never made it to the Klitschko fight as he was knocked out by Peter.

I wish fighters were more active these days. Back in the day when fighters fought ever 2 or 3 months, two mandatories would be no sweat.

Personally, I think Vitali should throw his little green paper title in the garbage.

    Wasnt he champion emiritus?

I think that there is something to be said for being clear best heavyweight (aside from Wlad) out there. With his age and the shape of the division, why should he have ot fight shit fights when he has only a few fights left?

Alright so all you have to do as a fighter is have a title and get injured and then you can come back years later and get an automatic title shot?

Does that mean that if Lennox Lewis comes out of retirement they have to take away Vitali's title since Lewis was Champion Emiritus before him?

Personally i've never heard of that happening for a fighter aside from the time they did it for Vitali.

And why "shouldn't" he fight his mandatories? Who else is he gonna fight? There's only 2 fights in the heavyweight division actually worth talking about, you actually want him to do those first and then what happens to the heavyweight division? Nothing.

They are gonna draw out these "big fights" to give them a chance to build up other fighters to bring interest back into heavyweight boxing where its pretty much non existant.

if anything if Vitali beats these guys then we don't have to hear from them again.

When a guy who is always injured probably has less than 2 fights left in him, yes. He should fight the very best. He shouldn't have to hope that his body stays together for another 4 years to build a legacy.

Alright lets say he has 2 fights left in him who is he gonna fight?

The only fights at heavyweight causing any kind of stir.

Are potential fights with Haye and Arreola.

Wladimer seems to be getting Haye or Arreola. So where does that leave Vitali? What other heavyweights can he fight that means absolutely anything?

Matter of fact tell me who the absolute best in the heavyweight division is that he can fight

Valuev would be nice. Or whoever out of the two you named that Wlad doesn't fight.
