Louis was scary becuase he was so deadpanned. Just went out there and slaughtered the opposition and then calmly walked back to his corner. Very scary to watch. Almost like he was a killer robot. LaMotta was ferocious.

“If you want loyalty, buy a dog.” Ricky Hatton
IMO the guy who sticks out is Aaron Pryor. I think he has a legit claim to be THE most ferocious fighter of all time and moreso then any of the 3 listed he never lost that fire at any point in his career. I remember he got knocked down once I forget by who and he bounced right back up and had the other fighter covering up as Pryor charged back then the ref got in there and issued the count. Was awesome.
"The Dark Destroyer" Nigel Benn
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
jack dempsey and nigel benn actually came to mind as i was writing the thread. those 2 definately had that non stop action thing and lots of it! see what you mean about joe louis, a bit mysterious was joe, and that must have been unnerving to some.

In terms of sheer terror then it is Liston in the early 60's, Foreman in the early 70's ( remember people actually feared for Ali's life before the Rumble),i have never seen a fighter with such intensity as Duran when he fought Leonard the first time, he was dead set scary and that was part of his psyche. I think Leonard was at times overawed by Duran as much as anything. Sadly this was the last time we really saw the great Roberto Duran at his peak.
Hagler was a menacing figure and Tyson from 1986-1990 was probably the meanest, nastiest, most ferocious fighter ever seen.
duran bein my favourite ever fighter, was coz of his ferociousness in the ring. unbefuckinleivable. tyson was just as bad. and on the british contingent nigel benn is and will be the most ferocious fighter weve ever seen and for years to come will be. GOOD THREAD
The wrecking machine in My Avatar.Dude was a monster for his weight
Terry Norris had a mean streak
Any coverage I ever seen of Jack Dempsey was pretty scary...The guy changed his expression little and was hitting with bad intentions every time

Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
gotta go with Tyson. A ferocious stalker to his opponents
Tommy Hearns genuinely sacred me. I felt sorry for Andries when he walked into the ring, same with Roldan.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Henry Armstrong - From the clips I seen of him and his knock out record he looked pretty ferocious. Good pressure fighter
Manny Pacquiao- He is always looking for the knock out from start to finish.
George Foreman of the 70s
Mike Tyson - He will always be a highlight film
Rick Hatton - In your face all 12 rounds.
There have been some truly ferocious fighters over the years. They are a genre all of their own (I wouldn't put Hagler in there, though. Hagler is an all time great but he could box and think in the ring and would alter his style accordingly. He was ferocious against Hearns but that was because he chose to be rather than because it was his prime nature)
I agree with people like Dempsey, Tyson, Duran, Benn and people like that .... Louis was a machine rather than a ferocious fighter. 'Ferocious' - for me anyway - is defined by a fighter who appears to enjoy hurting his opponent. To the layman amongst us ..... Clubber Lan is ferocous, Apollo Creed, Rocky Balboa, Ivan Drago and Tommy Gunn are not, although they may well be better fighters
Honourable mention must go to Stanley Ketchell, the Michigan Assassin who bit, clawed and hammered his opponents into the canvas
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
Top 3 In this order!
Foreman
Liston
Tyson
