Helms himself never ran as anything other than a Republican....although I am aware of the fact that he helped a Democrat beat up on Franklin Porter Graham

OK so if Trent Lott never "technically" ran as a dixiecrat then why the hell are you trying to bring it up....I don't care. All I am saying is if you look at Jesse Helms you're only going to see an R by his name. Whereas with Strom Thurmond he ran as a Democrat a couple times....even as a State's Rights Candidate for President in 1948.

But hey whatever makes you happy....as long as all you liberals can be happy I don't mind
