To be fair Khan would have won this regardless.......and yes the Doctor and the ref should have taken the decision out of MAB's hands and declared this a No-Contest

Job Biscuit (Shame it wasn't a clear cut win for Khan but there we go)!!!

You can't really judge that on two minutes of clean boxing though, Barrera seemed right in it to me up until the headclash. Afterwards he was on the back foot more as a direct consequence of the cut, Khan really isn't all he is being cracked up to be.

The UK media seems absurd judging by the things I have been reading!

I'm disguted by what I've been reading. If it the shoe was on the other foot they would have been calling for the heads of the ref and a doctor.

You know what I also like....how he was doing this for Britain....now he's going to help Manny beat (his friend) Hatton. Nice one.

Having watched it on tv now I didn't realise how bad the cut was. MAB is one of the small minority of fighters who would have kept going under those circumstances.

MAB was never going to win on points in such a fight and it was a stoppage he would have been looking for.

He DID hurt Khan twice regardless.

On a level playing field without the cut this fight would have been a cracker and would have been a case of Khan way ahead on points with MAB hunting him down.

I thought a rematch was pointless a couple of days ago but now maybe it's best thing to do.

Had MAB pulled out we would have got a rematch. You have to respect him for not doing that - not that we don't already

I totally agree, the fight should have been stopped because the blood poured from the clash till the end, if it was ok in the second, third and fourth despide the waterfall of blood, why calling it off in the fifth? It should have been stopped before. Thus said, Khan won clearly every rounds, wasn't even close, the kid showed his skills and we can't take that from him. NOw we can speculate "what if I" but it becomes than pure fantasy and we have no way to clearly foresee the future using all the "what if". Fact is: the fight should have been stopped before and it was a bit unfair to barrera, fact is: Khan totally dominated a guy over 5 rounds, a guy everybody including Khan's friends saw as being the british's boy undertaker. Did Barrera got an unfair lost in the circumstances? I think so. Did Khan showed what everybody wanted to see from him? Yes.

Can anyone honestly say, on the night, they would have been happy for a no-contest to be called after 2 rounds?

Either way it would have been a terrible unsatisfactory ending.

    mob rule?

I don't buy that 5th round conspiracy stuff.

So the ref and doctor purposely let the fight continue to give Khan a win? What would have happend had Barrera sparked him before the 5th round ending? You'd all be saying the ref and doctor consprired against Khan by letting Barrera continue, right?

If he'd have stopped him I would have said Barrera was lucky because the fight could have been stopped at any time. I would have also said Khan is chinny - which he still is

not saying it was an intentional 'lets fix this for khan' but by leaving it till then we did come out with a 'winner' rather than an 'unsatisfactory' (your words) NC.

How much worse was the cut from the first time the doctor looked at it till they waved it off? I do think the question needs to be asked why they let it continue.

When I saw the cut start bleeding out I thought shit this is going to be stopped any second now, my next thought was shit, £300 and they haven't finished a round. I'm sure there were people with more on the line than their ticket money I would have been disappointed BUT I say again it would have been the right decision.

I said Khan's "win" was unsatisfactory too.

Personally I would have benefited from a NC. I would have GREATLY benefitted had Barrera landed the KO punch though - so prefered the gamble.

Maybe Dave Parris gave Barrera a chance to get into the fight but then realised the handicap was too great?

Or maybe you're right - he purposely risked Khan getting sparked so we could have a winner?

    Dunno.

You can clearly see Warren signal to the ref about 10 seconds before the doctor looked at the cut again.

Warren signals for him to look at the cut.....ref waits a few more seconds ....

    Rest is History.

Look at Warren 3 mins 14 secs in (centre ringside)
