Here was a world champion (Nicky Cook) defending his title for the 1st time on home soil. He gets knocked down (Not particularly heavily) twice yet the British referee, as per usual, panics and stops the fight after the 2nd knockdown. Watch the round again yourself and see if you agree with me.

This is boxing !! It's not a tickling contest (Ricky Hatton 05). In fact it's not just here in the UK. I have seen a few examples in states, the most famous, the Kostya Tszyu Vs Zab Judah fight. A fighter should be given every chance, it only takes a while before a boxer clears his hand.

I remember the Manny Pacquiao - Juan Manuel Marquez fight. Marquez gets knocked down THREE times in the first round, BUT ref Joe Cortez lets it continue, Marquez recovers and goes on to give Pacquiao the closest fight of his life, earning a draw (Most people though he won) if that same fight was fought in the UK, the UK ref would have stopped it by the second knock down. I just think referees should think more, fighters get knocked down all the time in sparring sessions, they don't say “That's it, no more sparring today” they just pick themselves up and carry on. These referees just spoil boxing.

You don't know much about boxing do you my man... To say something like "It only takes a while before a boxer clears his head" Is like saying

" as long as you obey traffic laws when drunk it is ok to drive"

Both rediclous statements that make no sense....

There is a difference between having to clear your head in a fight and being in a situation to get hurt....A fighter who may be rocked and needs to clear the cobwebs should be able to somewhat cover up, move around avoid any abuse or at minimum be in the right mind frame to hold for time.... If a fighter can not execute those and is hurt there will be no time to "Clear his head"...Because the other guy is going to kepp hitting him in it....

A fighter who gets knocked down has time to clear his head...

It is called a standing 8 count...That is what the rule was introduced for...Time to gather yourself and time for the ref to see if you are ok to continue...

If you think Zab Judah was OK to continue then you are sadly mistaken...the man was talking jibberish pointing to Nady then fell on his face again...Any fighter who falls twice from the same punchis hurt beyond being able to fight again....A puncher like Tszyu could put a man on life support if he was allowed to tee off on Judah in that state...

Better stop the fight early then late....Live to fight another day....Are there early stoppages yes of course Richard Steele was FAMOUS for them...

We bashed him, criticized him, made fun of him, he was booed when announced before a bout......

We also did not have to live with Steele's conciounce everyday having the weight of being the ref for Mancini/Kim either

PS I screwed up on Richard Steele is was Richard Green
