What Juanma Lopez commented is that he recognize that this fight is one of the most important in his career , cause he know that Penalosa had have a great trajectory and would be a great Victory for him to win the fight , though is not just he want Win Penalosa , he really want KO Penalosa , cause nobody did that before and that would be convincing..................
To me if Penalosa try to go to the limit , probably with his great experience could reach until the 12 rounds , but i don't think that he could make exchanges punches with Juanma and don't get wrong with Juanma fighting 12 rounds guys , he training for that and more .............![]()
"Penaloser" is moving up in weight and the power advantage goes to Lopez, even if Gerry wasn't. Couple that with Lopez's superior boxing ability means that Penalosa will get KO'd like he never has before. Lopez is very, very hungry over here in P.R..
Don't underestimate Penalosa mate, he has fought in power deficits for the greater part of his career. It's his ability to make someone's own power work against him that have kept him so well in the twilight of his career. I still back Lopez to win, but this one's going rounds. Furthermore, a Penalosa win wouldn't shock me. Indeed if JML does take out Penalosa early it will be an amazing feat and he will get full props from me. I hope JML packed a lunch cause he's gonna be out there for a while.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Definitely power goes to JuanMa but superior boxing ability goes to the 36 year old Peñalosa. With 62 pro fights and twenty (yes 20!!) years of boxing, I consider Fearless Peñalosa as a master boxer already. JuanMa was only a 6 year old kid when Gerry started in professional boxing!!
Gerry will find ways to topple the 25 year old and bit raw JuanMa...
I've only seen Juanma maybe a total of less then three minutes. Saw his fight with ponce de leon a fight he had on TV and another he had on PPV where it looked like the guy just wanted out after the first punch.
So I can't say much about him other then im pretty sure he hits hard. Penalosa I havent seen any of, or I may have but don't remember. I really don't know who to pick, havent seen a lot of either guy. Anyone have any clips of Penalosa?
Here's some Peñalosa clips from Youtube but video quality is quite poor...
Two fights ago against former WBO bantamweight champ, Thailand's Sor Vorapin:

Three fights ago, Peñalosa knocking out the then reigning WBO bantam champion, Jhonny Gonzalez with a body punch:

Hope you enjoy the clips...

yes, i was a little surprised at jhonny's strategy in following the blueprint of those who beat gerry before. i thought he'd come at penalosa more because he did mixed it up with izzy and got him in trouble several times before getting caught with something big because of overconfidence imo. jhonny was a lot more cautious against penalosa than he was against vasquez.
