Wilfred Benitez was actually born in the Bronx and NOT in Puerto Rico as many people believe.
He is considered Puerto Rican because he became a citizen of Puerto Rico fighting there often and living there his entire life.
Hi CMM, what's up? Hey, let me throw my own 2 cents in there. Wilfred is 100% Puerto Rican, whether or not he was born in NY. I was born there too, but from Puerto Rican parents who happened to live in NY at the time. And there's no such thing as "Puerto Rican citizenship". Puerto Ricans, by law dating back to (I forget the year), are born with US citizenship automatically. So we're US citizens, but of Puerto Rican nationality. Sound confusing? It kind of is... many people misunderstand the exact relationship.
