That's so much of it and so many different eras.

You could argue that Rock and Roll came from the south/blues music in america (which in turn came from african slave chants! :0), rock seems to have been born out of that but has defined itself as 'rock' in the U.K. and loads of it comes from Manchester and up north.

Hip hop was basically born in New York, the old vinyls mixed by pionereering DJs that MCs first rapped over started after the black outs in New york, the looting led to expensive equipment finding its way into the projects. Most of the stuff they mixed with comes from Jazz and Funk, the classic 'break beat' that you'll hear on most hip hop songs now days was a tiny drum bridge sampled off old jazz music, wish I could tell you which part of the world/the states that it came from. But you get the idea... ideas seems to just travel and grow at lots of places.

Electronia/Dance Music... you had german Synthersizer groups and kids sitting in their bedrooms with keyboards making typical 80s pop and a lot of dance came from that.
