    Default Where

With all these threads on Music, got me thinking which area has had t6he most evolution in Music. Now the first thing we think of is, Detroit The west coast, come to mind in the States. London and Liverpool in England. Thinking about it got me curious, and after much thought came up with a surprise. Most evolving Bands most came from Birmingham, The Shithole Whats your thoughts on the matter. It surprised me How many top Bands come from there.

That's so much of it and so many different eras.

You could argue that Rock and Roll came from the south/blues music in america (which in turn came from african slave chants! :0), rock seems to have been born out of that but has defined itself as 'rock' in the U.K. and loads of it comes from Manchester and up north.

Hip hop was basically born in New York, the old vinyls mixed by pionereering DJs that MCs first rapped over started after the black outs in New york, the looting led to expensive equipment finding its way into the projects. Most of the stuff they mixed with comes from Jazz and Funk, the classic 'break beat' that you'll hear on most hip hop songs now days was a tiny drum bridge sampled off old jazz music, wish I could tell you which part of the world/the states that it came from. But you get the idea... ideas seems to just travel and grow at lots of places.

Electronia/Dance Music... you had german Synthersizer groups and kids sitting in their bedrooms with keyboards making typical 80s pop and a lot of dance came from that.

You guys have totally ignored Country as a genre. Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash are all icons in music.

Seriously I actually think that what one hears on Country top 40 has evolved far and away from classic country. There are only a handful of new "nashville" country artists I care for. Quite a bit of it has a real cookie cutter over produced pop sound to me. Now in Texas there has been an explosion of a distinct genre known as "Texas Country". I'm a pretty big fan of it.
