....everyone always hates those doing better than themselves. I don't really have a problem with the guy, he's as shady as the next, just more in front of our face i don't care i have enough money for good lawyers kind of shady.

Lou DiBella is a real straight shooter in my book--and a genuine kind of person to boot. So is Mike Acri. Arum is a sleaze ball's sleaz ball but a wealthy one at that. If money is the measure of success, King is King and so is Arum, but the Golden Boy is coming up on the outside.
“If you want loyalty, buy a dog.” Ricky Hatton
he's still funny as hell and a great patriot. I can forgive a lot for a man that promotes freedom the way he does. He might not be to freedom oriented when it comes to controlling boxer though. Still, he's a funny shady guy.
...still, I am yet to see another promoter come up with the fight cards Don King came up with.
I aggree , with alot thats wrote above , it just seems Don King is easy to hate we also assume there's funny business everytime somebody gets a a bum decision in Vegas !
what did King do to Tyson that he didnt do for Holyfield ?
Im sick of hearing about poor hard done by Mike Tyson who was matched soft and lavished with $300 dollars ! Did Don King force him to rape that girl ? Don King showed errors of judgement but to suggest he wanted Tyson to fuck up is ludicrus. Don King promotes Evander Holyfield and is still making him money and lots of it , do you hear Holyfield complaining or Julio Ceasar Chavez or Tito Trinidad ?
What did Don King do to McClelland ? Not stump up his end ? Well I suggest you read War,baby' and Dark Trade' or get your facts right .
Then we have the faceless HBO making millions out of fighters at the very top of the sport whilst the promoters like Don King and Frank Warren build them up and have them stolen . What about De la hoya - Felix Sturm ?Nobody ever says anything about that.
The Middleweight tournement that put Hopkins on top who's brainchild ? Tito,Holmes and Joppy all controlled by Don King , no ? HBo wouldn't touch those fighters,it was King that made that happen .
Hopkins career was languishing,he wasn't with HBO yet now he has the greatest of success .
What about Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe and Naz all built up by Sports Network !
Where were HBO when Naz was fighting Peter Buckley at the York Hall and where were they when Joe Calzaghe couldnt sell out Cardiff Castle and the Cardiff Ice Rink when he was boooed back to the dressing room ?
I am not a fan of Frank Warren or Don King we all complain about them not matching their fighters yet they take the risks put their end in show paitence when a fighter pulls out at short notice or puts a shit performence in and then fighters run off when the big bucks are shown .
I think it's time people grew up.
Big Dick as Jaz pointed he killed two people, one he shot in the back and the other he kicked to death for owing him money.
A crazy hairdo and a jolly eccentric personality shouldn't disguise the fact that he is evil to the fucking core and would kill his own gran for a buck.
I find him entertaining but he's up there with the likes of Hitler, Pol Pot and Saddam in terms of character traits.

I think a big one is that King stomped one of his workers to death because the guy owed him $600. Anybody who could beat someone to death just for owing money is a pretty amoral piece of shit.
He also stroked both Joe Frazier and George Foreman prior to their first bout and he actually STEPPED OVER Frazier's horizontal body on the canvas to get to Foreman. He bragged about how he arrived with the champion (Frazier) and left with the champion (Foreman), and there was nothing facetious about it. King was as scummy as it got back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
PPV percentages going to organized crime figures, he actually had to take the 5th Amendment when he was questioned under oath about his relationship to John Gotti...I would think a better question is "Why is he allowed to promote boxing cards"? The man is backed by and has ties with organized crime.
He stamped somebody to death, He shot somebody in the back.
He's ripped off and exploited fighters, ruined them.
What REALLY pisses me off about him to watch listen to is his BLATANTLY insincere flag waving etc... "viva la mekkyico' You're not mexican don... pronounce it 'mexico' like the rest of us.
He trys to work the sheeple with his psuedo jingoistic crap and it's just so weak.
Don is no beter or no worse then most big promoters when it comes to the way he treats/treated his fighters....Don just had bigger stars, and he had bigger ideas then most...The man made boxing the money machine it has become, there was not such thing as million dollar paydays with double digits before Don.....The man brought promotion to a whole new level and contrary to popular belief he is a hard worker....Most promoters today have a huge staff of people doing all the leg work...Don still at his age is hands on everything....
To understand exactly how good King is as a promoter for those who don't know the behind the scenes workings of Ali/Foreman do some reasearch.....No one but Don could have pulled that off
As for his past aside from boxing yeah he was shady, he was an enforcer but I can name a 100 guys who have done worse
Love King or Hate King you have to respect what the man does/has done....Don went beyond the biggest player in the game he invented the game
